XTO Energy is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide reservoir engineering technical support and expertise to its oil and gas development projects and production operations. The candidates will be responsible for working with multi-discipline teams to support optimal asset development and operation, leveraging fundamental reservoir engineering skills in reservoir description, development planning, opportunity generation and production optimization.

Reservoir engineers are exposed to many facets of our unconventional oil resource, starting with acreage acquisition, through to planning for and executing development, development optimization, and production surveillance. Typically engineers are assigned an area (generally enough acreage to consume a few (<5) drilling rigs) and they are then responsible for all operated/non-operated/industry work within that area. Position is in Spring, TX. Job Role Responsibilities Engineers work closely with M&A; / A&D; financial modelers to establish transactional values, and facilitate the purchase and trading of acreage. All transactions within an area will be subject to the reservoir engineer’s view of the acreage prospectivity (magnitude) and development plan (pace). Once an acreage position is acquired, the reservoir engineers work with development planning to optimize the plan for development. This includes the generation of full life cycle volumes forecasts, securing funding via technical and economic justification of individual wells, formation appraisal schedules and optimization/rationalization of development for midstream facility capacity. As wells are brought to production (all wells in the basin, operated and non-operated and industry) there is a significant amount of data generated that must then be used to remove the lingering uncertainty in development plans. Issues reside in the lack of a reliably predictive technical tool pertaining to fracture modeling / geomechanics. As such, engineers thoughtfully review all well results, and craft experimentation to illuminate what can be done to drive further economic improvements in wells (via completion changes, well spacing changes, and well stacking optimizations). Insights derived from this data are then immediately incorporated back into the area development plans. As operated wells are brought online, given the increased transparency into well conditions, reservoir engineers optimize the flowback live, constantly watching well productivity and advising on the choke ramp schedule. Finally, each year as part of the reserves and resource assessment, engineers document the development plan, on a by well basis, and communicate changes in expectations to the broader development team. . Expected Level of Proficiency BS Engineering degree required, preferably in Petroluem, Chemical or Mechanical Knowledgeable of all aspects of Reservoir Engineering Ability to complete decline curve analysis, develop drillwell locations, and prepare area for reserve report review Demonstrated work experience in unconventional development is required Ability to complete acquisition evaluations Strong communication skills and aptitude for working in a team environment a must Computer skills should include proficiency in the following software applications: Aries, Excel, Word, RTA analysis, Spotfire and other industry software Alternate Location: Employment Opportunities XTO Energy/ExxonMobil is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
