Columbine Logging, Inc., a leading wellsite geology company since 1980, is hiring experienced and entry-level geologists for wellsite geology positions in the Texas area. We are looking for people with experience in the Permian basin specifically with the Delaware side.
Wellsite geologists describe rock sample cuttings circulated during the drilling process. They also maintain gas monitoring equipment that collects total gas and gas chromatography information. This information is then transferred into documents called mudlogs, which are reported to the exploration company on a daily basis as a record of the potential for hydrocarbon production in various formations. Our geologists work and live at the well site, and are the "eyes and ears" for the exploration company's geologists
Since our geologists can be deployed on short notice anywhere in the Oklahoma oil fields, they must live near this area. This is a demanding position, requiring a unique combination of technical, mechanical, and interpersonal skills, as well as a dependable vehicle and clean driving record. It also requires a flexible schedule, since the time on each job is unpredictable and can vary, based on the time to complete the well. This means the wellsite geologist will be living and working in a trailer in a remote location, working 12 hour shifts for 2 to 3 weeks at a time and sometimes longer.
If you are a geologist who enjoys working in the field, this is the job for you! It is perfect for individuals who enjoy the freedom of not being tied to a fixed work schedule, love outdoor activities, and like to travel. We offer the opportunity for a challenging career that includes lab and wellsite training, excellent pay, performance based raises, 401K contributions, health and life insurance. A B.S. or B.A. degree in geology is required for this position. Or previous experience in the mudlogging/wellsite geology industry. In addition, proficient computer, mechanical, and electrical skills are required to create the geological log and to keep all the monitoring instrumentation, collection equipment, and trailer facilities functioning during the drilling process.
Our company is expanding rapidly and we are on the cutting edge of some of the biggest and most exciting unconventional oil and gas plays in the U.S. If you feel you would excel at this position and be an asset to our company, we look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. Please reply to this posting with a resume (including prior work history and educational background) and at least (3) three professional or academic references. Thank you for your interest in Columbine Logging.
