NSB-Omega is currently seeking a Wellsite Geologist for an upcoming opportunity
Experience Level: 20+ years in the Oil Industry: HPHT experience essential. Wellsite Geology and Mudlogging experience preferred.
Supervisor: Operations Geologist
The rotational wellsite geologists will be required to supervise all data gathering offshore, provide subsurface information and advice to the offshore team, and liaise with the onshore drilling and subsurface teams to ensure that drilling and data gathering on the well are performed in the safest and most efficient manner. They may also be required to participate in detailed, office based, planning work prior to drilling of the well and to engage in office based post-well reporting and compilation of well data.
The Wellsite Geologist will ensure a Safety First culture in all planning activities and program execution.
Typical DutiesActively engaged in the rig and Safety Programs.Supervise pore pressure, mud-logging, coring, LWD and wireline contractor’s personnel at the rigsite.Engage in a primary HSSE role, to ensure safe drilling off the well relating to all subsurface hazards, especially those associated with HPHT well control and HPHT pore pressure evaluation.Act as primary subsurface contact for the Drilling Supervisor offshore, advise and inform of potential drilling hazards and operational implications of prognosed subsurface situations that may be approachingWork with the Drilling Supervisor offshore and Operations Geologist onshore to ensure that Well Objectives are metComplete and distribute morning geological report and morning lithlog update.Issue geological updates, including updated lithlog, should conditions requireCompile and distribute contractor formation evaluation logs and data twice daily (or as required)Supervise and evaluate equipment/service performance of all relevant service companiesPopulate and update as much as practical the Geological Final Well Report, when operations permitUpdate strip log as much as practical, when operations permitResponsible for ensuring that service companies offshore are meeting the data gathering requirements as laid out in the Geological Programme and as defined by Best Practice.Participate in and give geological input to all rig-based meetings and all conference calls/VC with onshore teamTake the lead in supervising all coring (sidewall cores and full core) recovery, processing and description at the wellsiteProvide cover for the wireline QA/QC expert during wireline operations, or in the absence of a wireline QA/QC expert, take primary responsibility for the witnessing, supervision and wellsite QA/QC of wireline operations
Whilst onshore pre-drill/post-drillPrepare detailed wellsite operational plans for data gathering and work with service companies to develop best practice guidelines for implementing these tasks and putting in place agreed communications protocolsAttend Drill the Well on Paper and Pre-Spud meetings. Gain understanding of Process and its components and how they apply to our drilling programAttend and participate in Final Well Wrap-up meetings and Lessons Learnt meetings
