The Manager Technical will lead the development and production efforts and work closely with the exploration team to ensure necessary engineering input are provided in exploration evaluation. The Manager Technical will provide leadership to the subsurface engineering and economics group and will be responsible for the company business plan. The individual will interface at very senior level with host government, senior management and board. The job will involve working with, and providing objective advice to, senior management, specifically with regard to significant investment decisions such as development plan, resource evaluation and production operations. The role will also involve establishing and maintaining links to outside industry and academic organizations to stay abreast of new technology and applicable research. This position will report to Senior Vice President, Exploration and Production.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Lead development and production operations

Supervise technical staff; QC work products, and coach and mentor staff

Plan work programs and insure that they are being executed to meet the requirements of the PSC's

Present work programs to government agencies

Manage producing assets, reserve valuation and develop mid and long term business plans

Define/plan projects for management and staff - strategy, goals, how to go about achieving goals, deliverables, timing and resources needed/available

Communicate effectively with both management and staff

Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities

Organize data rooms and lead technical presentations to potential investors;

Works with the team and other functions to support Company efforts.

Perform other projects and duties as assigned by Sr. VP of Exploration and Production

 

Qualifications

 

At least a Bachelors or Master's Degree in Engineering

Minimum 15 years' experience development and production with an IOC or independent operating Exploration and Production Company, with which 10 years' experience in management and resource management

Experience in managing others and leading initiatives.

Proven track record in project development and production operations at senior level.

 

Desirable Skills and Experience

 

Project leadership and mentoring experience

A working knowledge of and exposure to African countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Gambia and Ghana will be an advantage.

Exposure to offshore/deepwater exploration and production operations in deepwater GOM
