Job Title: Summer Student – Geology
Location: Denver, CO
Reports to: Manager, Exploration
Term: May 2019 – August 2019
The following will provide you with basic guidelines as to the duties required of this position.
The successful summer student will join a fast-paced oil and gas exploration & development team, having the opportunity to apply learned geology principles.
Main Responsibilities & Activities:
Under guidance of Sr. Geologist, evaluate the potential of carbonate and clastic reservoirs within an operated project area; Crescent Point Energy currently operates in the Uinta and Williston basins
Analyze and interpret regional structural and stratigraphic relations using well logs, core analysis, seismic, and published geologic studies
Generate isopach, facies, and net pay maps
Provide interpretations that allow the complete evaluation of upside potential
Create reservoir studies for the purpose of optimizing production in a specific pool or area
Gain working knowledge of geosteering horizontal wells
Determine feasibility of specific well re-completions or stimulations
Prepare and submit governmental or asset reports or applications
Participate in field tours
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Working towards a degree in Geology or a related discipline is required
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Working knowledge of Petra software would be a plus, but not required
Previous experience in the oil and gas industry is desired, but not required
Enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Highly organized with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Self- starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision
Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals
