The ideal candidate will be in charge of owning and directing the maturation process and the associated technical evaluations used for advancing known contingent resource volumes to reserves that emanate from exploration success or in field incremental development opportunities through the defining of new capital projects.

This position will cover leading all subsurface activities associated with (i) defining developments on the back of Exploration success, (ii) guiding the work activities required to advance existing incremental contingent resource in producing blocks (eg satellites), to (iii) ensuring that appropriate and expedient subsurface management processes and practices are employed in the exploitation company's portfolio when in production.

The position will be accountable for securing the budgetary approvals necessary for carrying out these tasks, which will cover all subsurface activities defined in the Appraise to Operate phases of the Stage Gate Process, setting work programme and resourcing levels to meet the demands of the day-to-day operations of the subsurface teams and guiding and directing on work priorities, objectives and deliverables. The position will also be involved in integrating all relevant subsurface, drilling, facilities, commercial and economics activities and data into a cohesive business plans. At the same time the incumbent will be expected to fully support operational well delivery to actively deliver and mature development plans.

Soft interpersonal skills will be a critical element of the position with the post holder responsible for managing internal and external interfaces, lead efforts in respect of the sharing of ideas, plans and recommendation and be able to address challenges by internal corporate, partner and host government committees in a compliant, but persuasive diplomatic and sensitive fashion.

In particular a working knowledge of the Petronas field development process will be required. Experience working in a regulated environment is a requirement, and preferably with relevant Petronas MPM relationships already mature to ensure delivery of development plans through to execution till 2019.

The role involves leading in the area of subsurface reservoir management on all existing developments to ensure that the economic ultimate recovery is optimised. The role also involves the initiation, coordination and preparation of Field Development Plans (FDP) in collaboration with the other critical function and shadowing project schedules, defining resource plans to advancing contingent reserve volumes.
