Job profile summary:
This is an individual contributor Structural Geologist position within the Exploration Technical Centre Houston based team. This individual will support various regions / projects within the Exploration function and requires a broad range of experiences from large-scale, basin evaluations to detailed fault seal studies and in-situ stress analysis with the ability to turn work around quickly. The individual will have proven track record working within multi-disciplinary teams with cross discipline knowledge.
The role will provide the successful candidate with a deep insight into BP’s Global Exploration and Access Portfolio from both a technical and business decision making perspective. The successful candidate will possess strong coaching and influencing skills and will be a confident communicator.

Key Accountabilities:
Support Exploration and Resource Access projects. Including attending remote data rooms and reviewing virtual data rooms.
Support Exploration and Appraisal decisions related to trap definition and timing, and reservoir compartmentalization and fault seal analysis.
Provide support to Resource Development Teams where required.
Essential Education:
University degree in Geoscience, Geology, Earth and Planetary Sciences, or similar
Essential experience and job requirements:
Broad experience in creating structural frameworks from regional to field-scale
Strong analytical skills including ability to provide quick look interpretations and fit-for-purpose fault interpretations
Experience creating and interpreting palinspastic and paleogeographic reconstructions
Proficiency in mapping complex, salt-related structures
Ability to integrate seismic, well, potential fields, and petroleum systems datasets to define regional structural elements and domains
Experience with Petrel, MOVE, Gplates, TrapTester, Plate Kinematics, and Trinity software is highly advantageous
Experience in providing multiple models and describing uncertainty ranges for pre-drill resource estimates is desirable
Ability to successfully interact with representatives of other disciplines, internal teams, vendors, partner companies, foreign governments, and work well in integrated teams is required
Ideal candidate will have experiences with from a variety of structural styles and tectonic settings, and have good data management and documentation skills
The candidate is also expected to possess
Experience working in multi-discipline / functional project teams and ability to influence others to provide quality inputs to ensure quality team delivery
Experience within an integrated team and working in a technical centre
Cultural awareness and sensitivity given the diversity of people the candidate will need to work with and/or present to and the variety of opportunities we evaluate.
Proven track record of delivery – meeting objectives and delivering on time
Strong communication skills – high level of written and oral communication skills and experience with presenting to senior management
Strong coaching and mentoring skills
Partnership and team working skills - work well with others; across teams and disciplines
Proactive and resourceful
