The position will have responsibility for maximizing the value of the company through production and reserve growth and capital efficiency on our existing development projects and future opportunities such as Exploration and DRO’s (Discovered Resource Opportunities). It is essential for the candidate to be a self-motivated and highly knowledgeable Reservoir Engineer that can work effectively in a high-performance, multidisciplinary team environment, and possess a good understanding of geoscience concepts, well planning, GOM regulatory approvals documentation, offshore drilling and operational support, completions and production operations.
This role is accountable for:
Optimized field appraisal, development, surveillance and depletion planning
Reserve assessments in accordance with SEC and PRMS rules and guidelines
Life-of-field flow stream predictions
Budget, long range planning and economic evaluations
Providing reservoir engineering input to integrated project team
In addition, this position will participate in internal peer reviews of offshore exploration and appraisal projects, integrated field developments and subsurface operations teams.
The candidate will be responsible for all aspects involved in the preparation of reservoir engineering simulation models for field appraisal and development planning. The candidate must be capable of validating static geologic models, understanding and evaluating the petrophysical analysis and constructing reservoir simulation models, creating conceptual development plans for new fields, predict reservoir performance under primary and secondary recovery schemes and history match actual field performance using reservoir simulation.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring collection of well data to support reservoir and reserve evaluations, including pressure, fluid and core data; and coordinate with laboratories for the evaluation of data necessary for reservoir simulation – PVT, SCAL and flow assurance. The candidate will be responsible for creation of Mbal, Prosper and GAP models as required to assist with exploration and appraisal activities, field development planning and field production history matching.
The candidate will be responsible for reserve assessments on appraisal and field developments, providing reserve reports and presenting results for reserves assessment, budgets, long range planning, and life of field flow stream projections, in accordance with SEC and PRMS rules and guidelines.
The candidate will provide reservoir engineering due diligence on future opportunities such as exploration and DRO’s and potential farm-ins and acquisitions, ultimately resulting in risked reserve estimates and life of field flow stream projections for economic input, in accordance with SEC and PRMS rules and guidelines.
Education, Skills & Experience:
The candidate must have an B.S. engineering degree, with a degree in Petroleum Engineering preferred.
The candidate must have at least 10 years’ experience in Reservoir Engineering, with 15+ years preferred. Experience in GOM deepwater development planning and execution is preferred.
The candidate must have at least 5 years current experience with reservoir simulation for development planning in a multidisciplinary team environment, GAP modeling and pressure transient analysis. Experience with Eclipse reservoir simulation is preferred.
The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work cooperatively with diverse disciplines, partners and appropriate regulatory and government agencies to promote Murphy’s interests.
