We are looking for a highly competent and ambitious Staff Production Engineer. This position reports to the Supervisor, Production Engineering within the Production Delivery Center (PDC).

Purpose
The purpose of Staff Production Engineer is to safely and continuously maximize oil production and optimize water injection. This senior position is expected to work with other production engineers on complex operations and new technology to drive continuous improvement. The Staff Production Engineer is expected to be available for mentoring of junior staff and also to recommend strategic solutions for management.

Accountability & End Result

Responsibilities include production and injection optimization, short-term interdisciplinary planning, and operations and intervention support. PDC production engineers identify and plan intervention opportunities, perform choke and gas lift optimization, plan and implement openings of new wells, provide gas lift designs, oversee well testing, find ways to minimize production deferrals, and communicate to assigned offshore platform(s) on behalf of the GEA Development organization. PDC production engineers work closely with well intervention and integrity, operations, and reservoir engineering groups to resolve technical issues, execute intervention activities, and deliver production targets.

Key responsibilities

Maximizing oil production through production optimization via gas lift allocation, choke and valve settings, and well routing optimization
Ownership of well testing process, including quality control and prioritization
Identification and execution of production enhancement activities including well intervention activities
Construction and maintenance of well models and production engineering surveillance processes
New well flowbacks and subsequent drawdown management
Periodic travel offshore to oversee activities and establish/maintain good working relations
Gas lift design, artificial lift studies, and production engineering strategic planning
Support of well integrity surveillance and initiatives
Production and injection optimization during simultaneous operations including drilling and intervention
Identification and tracking of production deferrals
Periodically leading multidiscipline teams to identify production enhancement opportunities
Ability to present to and communicate with senior management
Qualifications

Required competency

Bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering or a Bachelor degree in Engineering in alternative field with relevant work experience
10+ years of relevant technical background and industry experience
Production engineering experience in a gas lifted, waterflooded field
Use of nodal analysis for production surveillance and optimization, gas lift design, and well performance analysis
Working knowledge of well intervention operations and capabilities – wireline, coiled tubing, pumping operations, and well workovers
Scale management and scale squeeze design experience
Demonstrated capability to work with a variety of disciplines and cultures
Strong interpersonal, influence, advocacy and networking skills
Preferred competency

Master degree in Petroleum Engineering
Business unit experience and experience with carbonate reservoirs
Perforating and acid stimulation / re-stimulation design
Decline curve analysis and production forecasting
Well performance analysis through use of pressure transient analysis
Providing production engineering support for development drilling – rotary and/or coiled tubing drilling
Ability to provide technical mentoring to less experienced production engineers
Working knowledge of waterflood design and operations, well construction, and well integrity
