The Bakken is a large shale play located in the Williston Basin, which stretches across portions of eastern Montana and western North Dakota. The Bakken is one of the company’s three key growth areas within its Lower 48 business unit, with a development area covering approximately 620,000 net acres at the end of 2018. The company’s activities focus on unconventional tight oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin. Operational and capital efficiencies continue to improve in the basin through the use of multi-well pad drilling, completion optimization, facility design changes and data analytics. In 2018, net production from the Bakken averaged 84 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The Bakken trend is a sequence of liquids-rich sand and shale layers located in the Williston Basin, which stretches across portions of eastern Montana and western North Dakota. The Bakken is one of the company’s three key growth areas within its Lower 48 Business Unit, with a development area covering approximately 620,000 net acres. The company’s activities focus on unconventional tight oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin. The position will be based in Houston. The candidate will be expected to mentor other stakeholders and travel to multiple field locations 25% of their time.
Your responsibilities may include:
Develop and train engineers and field operations professionals on gas lift standard methodologies, ranging from tubing designs, well unloading, and troubleshooting guidelines
Daily coordination with the Bakken Operation Center (BOC), Operations Group and Production Engineers to optimize gas lift injection at the well and facility level
Implement gas lift valve teardown failure analysis tracking system
Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize gas lift installations
Travel to field locations to provide support and troubleshooting
Assist in shooting fluid levels and using the data to troubleshoot or understand flowing and static well conditions
Prepare economic evaluations for operating capital and expense production projects
Work closely with the facilities group to optimize well performance
Prepare workover procedures for Gas lift, Rod Pump and ESP wells
Participate in formal well reviews and defect elimination programs
Work with other support groups on production operations issues
Develop procedures and provide technical mentorship to service rig supervisors during rig work and well intervention operations
Participate in all safety programs and processes, including BBS, and be a role model for safe practices to other employees and contractors
Collaborate with the asset team to set priorities and ensure work plan alignment
Bachelor's degree in petroleum, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or other related engineering discipline
7+ years of experience with multiple artificial lift systems
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Gas lift & Rod Pump design and optimization experience
10+ year of gas lift experience including gas lift design and surveillance
Experience in field operations including workovers and well intervention
5+ years of experience using integrated modelling tools such as IPM, Reo, etc.
Strong dedication to continuous improvement, safety & environmental stewardship, and business ethics
Must have a strong dedication to safety and promoting safe work practices
Strong computer skills and proficiency in OFM, Rodstar, XSPOC, Wellview, and MS Office Suite
Ability to work well within multi-discipline teams both in the office and field environments
Unconventional shale play exposure
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
