The Sacramento, CA office is currently seeking a motivated Staff Level Geologist, Soil Scientist or Engineer.

The ideal candidate possesses many of the following attributes:
A bachelor’s degree in Geology, Soil Science or Engineering Sciences;
Possesses good written and verbal communication skills;
Experienced in collecting environmental samples including air, soil vapor, soil, and groundwater is a plus, but not a requirement;
Experienced in operation and maintenance of treatment systems is a plus, but not a requirement;
Positive personality possessing the ability to work well as a team and individually;
Self-starter and solutions orientated;
Capable of performing moderate work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally;

Will work with experienced environmental professionals on both office and field tasks. Potential tasks include: work plan development; cost estimation; preparation of permit applications and supporting documentation; site geological work during drilling of soil borings and monitoring wells; and field and office work for treatment system construction management, and operations and maintenance of treatment systems. Tasks will also include assistance with: preparation of reports, data tables and analysis and health and safety plans for site investigation and construction projects. This position will have field and non-field related responsibilities and will require a minimum of 50% field work.


Experience Requirements
Zero to three years-experience in geologic and/or engineering treatment operations and maintenance for pump and treat systems and soil vapor extraction systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, strong computer skills, and strong communication skills. Current 40-hour HAZWOPER training with associated 8-hour HAZWOPER Refresher.

This position requires selected candidate to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check and a drug test. The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform field work, including light lifting and maneuvering of equipment, and work in a range of weather conditions. Candidate must also be able to travel to project sites, as needed. Some out-of-state travel may be required.

Skills Requirements:
Strong mechanical abilities to perform routine operations and maintenance tasks at soil vapor extraction systems. Typical duties to include collecting vapor samples from the systems for field screening and laboratory analyses, changing oil and adding bearing grease to rotary lobe blowers, changing V-belt drives and pulley/sheave configurations on electric motors and blowers, and general knowledge of the use of air pumps, Velocicalc meters, photoionization detectors and landfill gas meters.
Attention to detail and good written/oral communication skill sets
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Degree Requirements:
BS or BA in Geology, Geological Sciences, Soil Science, Environmental Engineering or related field.
