Woods Environment & Infrastructure Solutions Nashville, Tennessee Environmental Branch is in search of a Geologist with 3 to 5 years of environmental consulting experience to assist with field sampling events (groundwater sampling, soil boring advancement, and monitoring well installation). Additional responsibilities will include assisting project managers with project planning and project execution. The employee will develop an understanding of approaches, methods, and regulatory requirements at environmentally impacted sites under federal and/or state specific regulatory programs. The employee will be expected to travel to field sites primarily in southeast. Travel throughout the southeast will provide the applicant a broad range of experience in implementing environmental assessments in a variety of geological settings. The applicant will also assist with preparing work plans, analyzing environmental data, and assisting with report preparation for submittal to clients and regulatory agencies.Woods Environment & Infrastructure Solutions (E&IS;) business unit is comprised of our environmental engineering and consulting business as well as our infrastructure-related service capabilities. We offer competitive salaries along with a complete benefits package including: medical, vision, & dental coverage, 401K Matching, Educational Reimbursement, and a variety of Training and Development Programs to help you develop the skills you need to succeed in your chosen career path.Key Responsibilities Scheduling field sampling eventsConducting soil, surface water, sediment, soil gas, air and groundwater sampling events in various site settings Performing oversight of drilling operations including soil boring advancement and the installation of groundwater monitoring wells and/or piezometersPreparing soil boring logs, monitoring well installation logs, and cross sectionsAssisting senior staff with the preparation of technical reports including compiling analytical data, preparing potentiometric maps, developing data summaries, and writing report textDaytime travel and overnight (up to a week or more) travel required, as neededOvertime required, as needed Have and maintain a valid driver's license, work outdoors in various weather conditions and frequently lift up to 35 pounds
Skills / Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Geology is required (Master's degree preferred) Qualified to become a Geologist-in-Training (GIT) in the State of Tennessee (completion of ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology Exam preferred)3-5 years of experience in environmental consultingCurrent OSHA 40-Hr HAZWOPER trainingCommunicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with management, staff, and clientsAbility to work well in a team environment with a willingness to follow detailed instructions and learn new skillsAbility to apply analytical/scientific thinking to define and solve problemsAbility to execute field and office tasks and operate independently at times - specifically in field setting Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
