Our Tucson office is currently seeking a Staff Geological Engineer. This individual will have a strong academic background seeking a challenging career with a growth-oriented company committed to providing the highest quality of services to its clients.

We are seeking candidates with a geological engineering background and familiarity with working with UAVs, 3D point clouds, and remotely sensed data to participate in design and construction of mining and infrastructure projects in the Southwest US and elsewhere.

Project work requires skills and training pertinent to engineering geology, geological engineering and civil geotechnical engineering. Travel within the United States will be necessary for some field assignments. The expected work will include office-based engineering design and field work. Appropriate on-the-job training will be provided.

Responsibilities:
Work with project teams on geological and geotechnical projects that involve field work, data evaluation, engineering analysis and report preparation.
Conduct field assignments, such as geologic mapping, geotechnical drilling supervision, borehole logging, test pit logging, site reconnaissance, and construction monitoring; all under senior direction.
Prepare geotechnical data reports, calculations and modeling;
Process photos of soil and rock slopes into 3D point clouds, perform change-detection analysis, and extract geological and geotechnical data from point clouds using a variety of specialty engineering software.
Performing engineering calculations and analyses using hand and computer-based tools under senior direction.
Assisting with the preparation of technical reports, including writing sections of reports, preparing figures and tables, and working with drafting and administrative staff to produce final reports under senior direction.
Performing other engineering activities as directed

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in geology, geological engineering, or civil geotechnical engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
0-2 years of relevant work experience.
Strong geotechnical soils laboratory skills and field skills such as geologic mapping, core logging, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling are preferred.
Strong computer skills and experience with industry standard commercial computer software including: Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, and various geo-engineering software (i.e. slope stability, rockfall analysis, etc.)
Experience in various structure from motion photogrammetry and point cloud software such as Agisoft Photoscan, Cloud Compare, Maptek I-Site Studio, Split FX, and similar.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills, problem solving skills, and a positive attitude as well as the ability to work both independently and on teams
Willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed to complete an assignment and satisfy project demands
Must be eligible for employment in the U.S. and pass a pre-employment physical including drug screen and pre-employment background check
Domestic relocation compensation may be available.
