The individual in this corporate technology role will be responsible for interacting with all Newfield Business Units in performing advanced-level geomechanical analysis, seismic attributes, and processing for all onshore unconventional resource plays. This specialist role will work on a corporate-level, multi-disciplined team of geoscientists, petrophysicists, and reservoir engineers. Key to this role is keeping up with the latest advances in induced seismicity and seismic attribute methods, as well as developing new/novel concepts in using seismic data to understand the geologic variability in reservoirs. Teamwork skills are critical to this position, as well as the ability to deliver the technology to the Business Units to increase value.

Detailed Description

Expertise in induced seismicity analysis and the ability to communicate results internally and externally.

Technology leadership role in seismic analysis (calculation of geomechanical properties, inversion, modeling, and attributes) and processing for optimizing exploration & development success, production rates, and EUR.

Staying abreast of the latest technical advances in geophysics, induced seismicity, and geomechanics.

Ability to develop new/novel seismic concepts to improve the performance of Newfield reservoirs, and the ability to articulate and transfer the technology into NFX Business Units.

Interacting with geoscientists, engineers, and petrophysicists to increase the value-add of seismic data.

Job Requirements

M.S. degree preferred in Geophysics, Geology, or related field. Will consider candidates with a B.S. degree in these disciplines with 20+ years experience

Minimum 20 years of recent seismic analysis experience (geomechanics, inversion, modeling, attribute & processing), with at least 10 years experience in unconventional/fractured reservoirs

Expertise in Hampson-Russell and Kingdom

2-D and 3-D seismic interpretation experience would be beneficial

Must be self-motivated, have a thirst for knowledge, and be receptive to new ideas and approaches

Experience in working on a multi-disciplined team

Must have excellent oral, written, and formal presentation skills

Adept at interaction with a variety of contacts, internal and external, including management, industry and academic consortia.

Must possess excellent people & teamwork skills

Supervisory Responsibilities

Mentor and direct less experienced professionals, technicians, and interns.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Some travel required.
