Ascent Resources is seeking a Reservoir Engineer for our Oklahoma City, OK office. The Senior Reservoir Engineer will characterize reservoir properties, assess development options, and orchestrate the implementation of reservoir management plans, all with the collaborative support and expertise required to deliver outstanding results. Mentoring of less experienced engineers will be required. Some overnight travel to field location as appropriate.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate individual well performance, predict reservoir performance, evaluate completion strategies, and optimize future development plans
  • Evaluate and initiate exploitation opportunities including new drill wells and workovers
  • Prepare detailed studies of producing properties, and determine ultimate primary and potential secondary recovery
  • Recommend collection of additional specialized reservoir data, fluid sample analysis, pressure data and other information necessary to evaluate reservoirs
  • Advise on operational activities from a reservoir engineering standpoint
  • Build and/or update simulation models and use these to generate forecasts - short term, medium term and long term
  • Attend partner meetings and provide technical input to reservoir and operational concerns
  • Make presentations to senior management and partners as required
  • Make recommendations to production engineer(s) for selection of diagnostic production logs
  • Have understanding of reservoir characterization and interpret / incorporate simulation results
  • Understand phase behavior and use in material balance calculations
  • Perform decision and risk analysis
  • Perform single well nodal analysis and assist with network nodal analysis
  • Have thorough understanding of well tests and their application
  • Research well histories & well files in order to understand all prior well work

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong skills in reservoir/sub-surface modeling
  • Ability to work with multi-functional teams, prioritize projects and have good interpersonal skills
  • Must have good presentation, communication and technical writing skills
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and team needs and meet established deadlines
  • Expert knowledge in reservoir engineering practices and production forecasting
  • Extensive knowledge of economic evaluations
  • Advanced knowledge of methods for treating risk and uncertainty in oil and gas E&P projects
  • Proactive analytical skills with heavy attention to detail



  • Experience working in the Appalachia Basin
  • Reservoir modeling experience
  • Data analysis experience
  • Expertise working through Acquisitions and Divestitures


Education & Work Experience Required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical or other related engineering field
  • 10+ years of reservoir engineering experience
  • Exposure to field operations, production and drilling activities
  • Experience in exploration evaluations including trend analysis studies, risk analysis and risked economic modeling



  • Experience working in a corporate reserves environment
  • Experience working with an Operator on A&D activity
