Description

Chaparral Energy, an independent oil and gas company headquartered in Oklahoma City, is seeking a driven and self-starting individual for the position of Sr. Reservoir Engineer in the Corporate Reserves department. This individual will play a lead role in maintaining the company’s reserves and resources information, including:
Working with the asset teams to ensure that new bookings have adequate engineering and geological support and are assigned to the proper category
Coordinating the review of proved reserves with third-party evaluators
Monitoring company and industry activity to maintain current reserves estimates and classifications
Working with accounting and financial reporting on reserves analysis requests
Supporting other departmental reserves and economic activity
Provides reserves estimates and formation evaluation for new wells, existing wells, and projects.
Provides reservoir engineering support to technical staff and business unit.
Monitors oil and gas reserves and production on a continual basis with a special emphasis during the mid-year and year-end reporting process
Conducts reserve studies to define future development opportunities and reservoir potential.
Forecasts future product sales and revenues related to reserve fields
Provides reserve estimates of company reserves of projects
Conducts economic evaluations on both a risked and unrisked basis for prospects, acquisitions and dispositions
Working with the asset and financial teams on acquisition evaluations
Candidate requirements include:
BS in Petroleum Engineering or related degree (MS or MBA preferred)
7+ years of experience with an operator or engineering consulting firm in a reservoir engineering role and/or corporate reserves role
Knowledge of PRMS and SEC requirements for reserves reporting
Experience with ARIES, or similar reserves and economics tools, is required
Experience with Petra or similar geologic mapping tool is a plus
Advanced Excel skills required; additional database skills preferred
Exceptional problem-solving abilities; must be resourceful with both people and information systems to find answers to challenging questions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
