As a member of the Reservoir Engineering team, this position is responsible for executing JACOS’ growth strategy including the ongoing management and optimization of SAGD wells in JACOS portfolio at its Hangingstone Expansion operations as well as the evaluation and appraisal of other developmental prospects.
Professional petroleum engineer (APEGA membership) with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in SAGD reservoir and well management and a strong understanding of thermal process and development strategies
Experience with ESP operations and NCG (non-condensable gas) injection
Sound knowledge of well completions, bottom-hole devices and wellbore hydraulics
Proficient with relevant reservoir engineering software packages (CMG STARS and Schlumberger IX) as well as Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Well organized with excellent project management skills

Injection and production well control for the Hangingstone Expansion (HE) SAGD Project.
Coordinate monitoring of well pairs, field data analysis and internal reporting.
Develop and maintain production forecasts in support of Marketing and the annual Work Plan and Budget process
Work closely with G&G, Operations, and Marketing teams for day-to-day management of SAGD reservoir, field tests, well optimization and production scheduling.
Analyze SAGD reservoir performance and recommend asset depletion plans of sustaining well pads as well as process improvements including the evaluation and development of new technologies.
Provide reservoir engineering input to optimize well design, lifting strategy, well spacing, re-drills and infill drilling.
Provide support in the writing of regulatory applications for special field trials to enhance SAGD performance
Initiate and manage specific reservoir engineering projects as required to optimize reservoir performance.
Complete annual detailed reserves determination as well as completing economic evaluations.
Collect and analyze information of other SAGD operations in the industry
Assist other reservoir engineers in developing numerical models for field history matching and performance predictions.
Mentor younger engineers in reservoir management tasks.
This role is located at our downtown Calgary Head Office with occasional travel to the field.
