The Reservoir Engineer position will support the bank’s technical and financial staff with the routine Reserves Audit through direct project support, data compilation, interpretation, analysis, and reporting. This position will be responsible for using all historical and current available data in order properly to assist the energy team with reserve audits throughout the year. The reserve audit occurs twice a year for each client.
Work closely with the bank’s technical team to develop and improve the reserves audit review process.
Responsible for downloading data from external data sites and data organization.
Organize, structure, and interpret data in spreadsheets, databases, data analytics software packages, and PowerPoint presentations.
Work with Aries or PhdWin Databases to review side files, templates, production forecast metrics, lease operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
Complete economic evaluations at various commodity pricing, capital, and expense scenarios
Routinely pull data from Aries or PhdWin into OneLine Summaries.
Prepare historical and current LOE statements
Review historical and future oil and gas differentials
Prepare complicated hedge schedules for all clients
Coordinate all technical information from internal and external databases into report and presentable formats for review by the technical team members.
Perform as needed data querying and analysis
Other duties may be assigned/requested by the technical team
BA or BS degree in petroleum engineering;
2+ years of experience working as a reservoir engineer for an upstream oil and gas company;
Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel;
Coursework in data analytics, mathematics, and computer programming are preferred;
Knowledge of SEC Reserves Category guidelines;
Experience with Aries, PhdWin, PEEP, or other petroleum economic software;.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and efficiently prioritize work to meet deadlines;
Working knowledge of how to use Spotfire, Access, Tableau, or MicroStrategy is a plus;
Strong desire to learn, improve, and recommend changes to methods and techniques to improve audit review process;
Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
