Role synopsis
This role is an individual contributor Senior Reservoir Engineer position within the reservoir management team of Shah Deniz (SD). The role will be accountable for leading all reservoir engineering activities for the full field development with strong communication and coaching skills. The person will provide subsurface assurance for the Shah Deniz reservoirs and integrate cross functional activities and the resource progression opportunities that maximize economic value. The Senior Reservoir Engineer should be an experienced practitioner of classical reservoir engineering methods applied to giant fields, as well as be able to use simulation models to provide more detailed studies. The person will develop and oversee strategies and protocols for good reservoir management, these include Integrated Subsurface Description (ISD), Reservoir Performance Prediction (RPP), Depletion Planning (DP) and will also ensure these are supported by an appropriate surveillance strategy and subsurface uncertainties & risk management (SURM) plan. The role is Baku based and will report to SD RM Team Leader. Azerbaijan is an exciting place to work and do business. Shah Deniz has important geo-political relevance in the opening of the Southern Gas Corridor to Europe and is also as a substantial technical challenge. Key accountabilities
Lead reservoir engineering activities in the team including technical assurance and coordinate/propose workplans for RE’s in the team Integrating reservoir engineering analysis of Shah Deniz full field development, reservoir surveillance, operational activities and requirements with reservoir modelling and development plans Strong reservoir engineering skills including reservoir performance, risk & uncertainty management and reservoir simulationA thorough and deep comprehension of the key physical processes involved in gas condensate field development and managementCompetence in the use of Nexus and familiarity with Top-Down Reservoir Modelling (TDRM) and some programming capabilityExperience using Prosper and GAP applications for well performance modelling, as well as Crystal Ball for handling uncertaintyA thorough knowledge of Discovered Resources Management (DRM), SURM, Depletion Planning, and the writing of ISD and RPP documents is essentialBuild organizational capability through knowledge sharing and coaching of junior members of staff and provide wider reservoir engineering input to the business Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate technical subjects to both regional and functional leadership, within the Reservoir Development teamContributes to sharing reservoir development understanding of the field with Partners and State Oil Representatives and others as needed
Essential Education
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering or related applied sciences
Essential experience and job requirements
Extensive Reservoir Engineering experience in giant field developmentStrong reservoir engineering skills including reservoir performance, reservoir management and reservoir simulationConfident, open communicator; experienced with presenting to senior management and partnersExperience working in multi-discipline / functional project team and ability to influence others to provide quality inputs to ensure quality team delivery.Experience in integration with PEs and geoscience disciplines to enhance productionExperience in coachingCertification in Discovered Resources Management Azerbaijani citizenship is required
