Summary/Objective: The Sr. Reservoir Engineer - Corporate Reserves is a key member of a team that coordinates the year-end reserves process and quarterly updates, ensures reserves compliance with all regulations and interfaces with area development team and third party reserve auditors, monitors and analyzes reserve changes, tracks economics inputs and prepares reconciliations and reports for senior management, accounting and financial auditors.
Assist with fiscal year-end reserves process and quarterly reserve updates.
Assist reservoir engineering efforts in SEC reserves analysis, reconciliation and documentation and support the area team Reservoir Engineers as needed.
Assist in preparation of proved, probable, possible and contingent reserve evaluations and coordinate data transfer and comparison with third party reserve auditors.
Monitor and analyze reserve change, based on production performance and drilling and workover activities, including revisions, additions, as well as acquisitions and divestitures.
Work with Sr. Corporate Reserves Analyst to revise and maintain reserves database.
Preparation of quarterly and year end reserves processes including:
Well production performance forecasts.
Production reference prices and differentials, energy content in conjunction with marketing and accounting.
Shrink and yield analysis in conjunction with marketing and accounting.
Capex – annual review and analysis of capital.
Asset retirement obligation (ARO) – maintain abandonment costs for yearly reporting.
Preparation of quarterly and yearly reconciliations and reports for senior management, accounting, third party auditors.
Non-operated activity tracking and reserves forecasting and economics.
Preparation of economic valuations as necessary for acquisitions, divestitures and trade activities for accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
Experience in oil and gas reserve estimations using SEC rules, decline curve analysis and economic evaluations.
Direct work experience and proficiency with economic evaluations software (Aries).
Position requires a strong analytical and problem solving skill set utilizing sound engineering principles.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with a multi-disciplined team including geologists, landmen, engineers, and technicians.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. On occasion this position may be required to go to the field and monitor activity, therefore being exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, cold weather, extreme heat, and vibration.
Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role: However, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The worker is also required to have close visual acuity for viewing a computer terminal, reading, transcribing, and preparing and analyzing data and figures.
Position type and expected hours of work: This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours.
Travel: Little to no travel is expected for this role. Any travel is related to field office visits, training, conferences and seminars.
Bachelors of Science in Petroleum Engineering is preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of industry related experience with demonstrated knowledge of reservoir engineering techniques and skills.
