Optimizing Production

Ensure detailed review of daily production reports in order to optimize the volume of oil produced taking into account the constraints of total fluid handling capabilities of surface facilities.

Careful review of well test data / close liaison with sub surface to evaluate results.

Conversant with Field ESP design and operating parameters in order to evaluate individual pump / well operating criteria fit for well deliverability. Demonstrates an understanding of ESP failure related repair / replacement costs.

Close working relationship with Well Services to understand and question work plans and schedules with a view to maximizing production whilst being cognizant of costs.

Daily liaison with offshore supervision to ensure well test requirements are communicated and understood.

Act as (or oversee delegate) focal point for any planned full / partial Field shutdowns. Ensure all work planned is risk assessed where appropriate; master plan is developed; materials and resources fully understood and available; good communication throughout; prior to reinstating production, utilize the Pre Start Up Safety Review format. Develop a Lessons Learned register and communicate Lessons Learned.

Volume of Oil produced is optimised

Maximized ESP pumps run time.

Project Feasibility Study

Conduct project feasibility studies on identified production initiatives in order to examine the feasibility of implementing the proposal taking into account the cost-benefit factors - Debottlenecking / Water Injection / Power Management (Reduction) / Oil in Water Improvement, all of which are key focus areas to sustain the Field Life / OPEX cost reduction.

Feasibility studies are prepared in a timely manner, are accurate and clearly reflect the initiative.


Ensure production data from daily Production Reports is inputted into the Production Database in order to provide a reliable and accurate ready reference to the Production Team for further analysis and reporting.

Production database is updated, timely and accurate.

Technical Support

Provide HSSE and Public Affairs departments with technical input in order to enable them to submit reports to Department of Minerals and Fuel or Local Government.

Provide the offshore Field Manager and offshore team with technical support in order to troubleshoot problems and facilitate resolution.

Close liaison with Asset Integrity Management Team and Well Services Team to ensure equipment is equipment / facilities are operating within design parameters and to ensure alignment to integrity requirements and expectations.

Coach and mentor peers and subordinates whilst providing effective supervision to complete assigned tasks.

Technical inputs and support are provided timely and are reliable

Quality and reliability of trouble shooting and recommendations for problem resolution.

Budget / Administration

Thorough understanding of the development and management of the OPEX Budget.

Provide input to the Production Technical Assistants in the allocation of cost codes for expenditure within the

Reports / Regulatory

Prepare periodical production reports on production activities, deferred production, process loss, etc and submit to the Production Manager to keep him informed / appraised and to facilitate timely and accurate planning of production to meet company and department requirements and targets.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships and communication with the Department of Minerals and Fuel and other Regulatory bodies.

All production reports are prepared timely and accurately to meet companypolicies and requirements

Job Requirements

University degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering with a solid understanding of the Oil and Gas industry.

Demonstrate a proven track record in a supervisory / managerial role relating to offshore petrochemical operations.

10 - 20 years within the upstream O & G business with at least 5 years directly involved in surface process equipment, day to day PE activities, well design / surveillance and a sound understanding of artificial lift, preferably ESP’s.
