Tasked with maximizing profitability of the Rock Ridge horizontal development program, while keeping pace with development pace. Rock Ridge is a newly acquired asset in the Permian Basin. Responsibilities will be maximizing production and profitability of oil properties by analyzing associated costs and estimating the production capabilities and economic value of wells. The focus will be on creating assets / further developing existing assets, implementing development plans and managing assets to maximize profitability. May serve as a project leader on assignments requiring a relatively broad knowledge of Production Engineering and assist in training less experienced Engineers. Will mentor less experienced engineers on fundamentals and supervise technical work within this role. This role includes leadership positions on team and projects.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Compare different artificial lift methods and artificial lift life cycle strategies to estimate the most profitable strategy for each different horizontal bench targeted at Rock Ridge.
Analyze producing properties for profitability and recommend operational improvements.
Use failure analysis, chemical program, and other tools to minimize sub-surface maintenance costs.
Optimize production from new and existing wells, determining if intervention is needed, when and how it should be performed, and by designing and installing the artificial lift application.
Work closely with Reservoir Engineers and Geologists on development plans to maximize the value of assigned assets.
Monitor daily production volumes for discrepancies and opportunities.
Collaborate with the Asset Team and/or technical professionals with project planning and AFE generation for new operated wells.
Participate with the Facilities Engineers and operations staff in the design of production facilities for each well.
Provide detailed input to well operations staff on all aspects of well completion/production operations design.
Ensure facilities and infrastructure are ready and new wells are connected in a timely manner to maximize revenue.
Prepare written intervention procedures and periodically supervise execution.
Implement and lead projects and studies to enhance profitability of assets.
Monitor competitor activity and well performance to obtain competitive advantage and assist in managing non-op capital commitments.
On call support, including nights and weekends may be required.
Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities.
Assist with LOE/WOE budget analysis.
Mentor less experienced engineering staff in production engineering and associated disciplines.
Experience with SWD well design and completions preferred.
Fishing and remedial well work experience preferred.
Other duties as assigned.

Computer/Software Applications:
Advanced level of skill in Microsoft Office. Advanced knowledge and utilization of Excel or Spotfire or analysis and SRod or similar rod pump design software. Competent in some nodal analysis modeling software (Prosper, Snap, Fekete, etc.). A plus if experienced with WellView, OFM, AVM, or ARIES. Remains current in the application of the latest proven technologies and methods.

Role-Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills:
Practical application and comprehensive understanding of production operations, artificial lift applications, facility construction a plus. Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with different artificial lift methods (ESP, gas lift, rod pump). Experience with remedial well operations (fishing, squeeze cementing, etc.). Has experience working more than one basin. Ability to identify and meet operational KPI’s and efficiency metrics. Develops understanding and knowledge of multiple basins/resource plays within a region. Good understanding of Reservoir and Completion Engineering.

Education:
B.S. degree in Engineering is required, Petroleum Engineering is preferred.

Typical Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of applicable experience
