OPERATED ONSHORE OIL FIELD DEVELOPMENT. The Operated Onshore Oil Field Development (UN) Department in Qatar Petroleum (QP) is responsible for the development of the super-giant Dukhan oil field. The UN Department plans and conducts long-term integrated subsurface studies to optimize field development and supports extensive operational activities in close liaison with the Drilling and Production operations. The UN team consists of 70 professionals from a wide variety of countries and includes geophysicists, geologists, petrophysicists, petroleum engineers and reservoir engineers. UN has three divisions; one dedicated to Surveillance and Well Operations, one dedicated to Development Optimisation and the third dedicated to Reservoir characterization.
SR. PETROLEUM ENGINEER (CO2 WAG SURVEILLANCE)
Primary Purpose of Job
The Senior Petroleum Engineer in the Development Optimisation division with key responsibility for the preparation of the planned CO2 WAG pilot. Drilling is planned in 2020 and 2021 for pilot startup in 2022. The pilot will be used to optimize large scale CO2 WAG implementation in the Dukhan field. EOR specialist staff is needed starting in 2018 to optimize the CO2 WAG pilot design (wells location, CO2 injection cycles, injection rates) to prepare for extensive data acquisition program, to follow up implementation, to monitor the pilot, to interpret results, to apply results on full field basis and to provide the final recommendation for a full field CO2 WAG project implementation. Developing the EOR competency within QP is integral part of the role.
BSc degree in Petroleum Engineering or other related discipline.
Software: Well and Reservoir Analysis Software : OFM. Well Inflow Performance Modelling Software : PROSPER or similar. General Allocation and Production Network Software : GAP or similar. Emeraude (Desirable)
Experience & Skills
15 years as a Petroleum Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry with demonstrated Surveillance / Production Engineering expertise in optimizing well production in a mature and large oil and gas field, preferable carbonate reservoirs. Proven experience in EOR techniques, preferably CO2 WAG flooding. Proven experience in design and execution of surveillance programs for EOR, preferably in CO2 WAG flooding, including data management systems. Proven experience in performance monitoring and evaluation of EOR, preferably CO2 WAG. Well experienced in periodic production rate testing for wells and allocation of well test/production data. Good understanding of production surface facilities and well integrity management. Proven experience in collaboration with engineering, field staff and contractors to ensure new EOR pilot facilities and new operating procedures will meet pilot objectives. Experience in application and evaluation of corrosion inhibition programs is desirable, in particular CO2 wells, and knowledge of material selection for CO2 wells. Experience in application and evaluation of tracers is desirable. Must have strong teamwork skills and proven experience in a multicultural environment. Must be able to communicate with peers, juniors, management and field staff.
