Our client has an urgent need for a Sr. Operations Geologist for a 6+ months contract working out of their downtown office in Houston, TX. 
The responsibilities will include daily reporting, overseeing of LWD and mudlogging services, data integration and well surveillance. The individual should have strong technical abilities and communication skills. The individual should have  and 2 to 5 in the Gulf of Mexico.
As an operations geologist you will serve as a contributing team member of a multi-disciplinary team in the development of the Bakken Asset from planning to implementation and in the decision-making process to drill the highest productivity wells.  You will be assigned one or two rigs with some of your responsibilities include and are not limited to:

Interpreting and evaluating subsurface geologic/geophysical data for subsurface maps and cross section construction.
Updates structural and isopach interpretations from review of MWD and open hole log data.
once a month you will have to prepare presentations, and testify to the North Dakota Industrial Commission to obtain well spacing, and field designations.
Supervise and train consultant geosteers (if needed) and wellsite geologist in-order to allow for optimal geosteering.
Participates/contributes on custom frac processes, as well as look backs.
Provides target strategy and geosteering support for multiple drilling rigs from landing to TD of lateral. This requires being on-call during (this may include calls in the middle of the night) all drilling operations.
Maintains appropriate digital databases (Petrovault, Petrel Studio, Minot working folders.)
Ensure NDIC and Partner Communications are fulfilled for missing geology data.
Prepare Data Packages in the various stages of the well (curve, lateral, TD) which includes tops and targets (also used in the permitting process), structure map, cross section, pre-lateral preview and End of well report.

 
Requirements

10+ years of experience as a wellsite geologist
5 years of GOM experience
Working knowledge of drilling operations, mud logging, petroleum fundamentals as well as geologic principles, with an emphasis on stratigraphy and structural geology as they relate to infill development
