Our client in the DFW area is looking for a Sr. Geologist/Geophysicist to join their fast growing team. This is a key hire for the company as this candidate will be building a geology team around them for the growth of the company. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate. Must have 15+ years of experience.
The Senior Geologist is a seasoned technical professional with broad technical skills. He/she works in an integrated team, providing sound geological expertise in the evaluation of exploration opportunities in which the company can participate. The Senior Geologist has proven competencies and is responsible for handling complex geological/geophysical assignments independently. He/she receives work in terms of broad objectives, and is relied upon to deliver key results. At times, the Senior Geologist may provide leadership on assignments requiring broad knowledge of geology and geophysics.
Will build and coordinate the geo-science function as the company expands its growth into new areas and plays.
Strong mapping and correlation experience (contour, iso-pach, rock properties, cross sections, cum production). Well database management, production data queries.
Lead the high-grading, risk assessment, and prioritization of growth opportunities
Responsible for gathering and maintaining all G&G; related data in quality and readily accessible format.
Serves as the technical expert on a Business Development team by integrating related geoscience specialties and knowledge. In addition possesses the experience and network to tap into specialized consultants for added depth and study in specific geoscience disciplines when required
Will prepare and present G&G; presentations to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences to explain technical reasoning behind recommended prospective areas and projects
Lead the department in the identification of new hires. Build the department with the necessary skills to sustain growth.
As a leader in the company will possess the interpersonal skills required to work effectively in a team environment, mentor junior staff and work in a multicultural environment.
International travel will be required.
Desired Skills & Experience
Master's degree in Geology or Geophysics, or a Bachelor's degree with experience commensurate to a Master's degree, is required;
Minimum of 10 years' professional oil and gas exploration and development experience working with or in a business unit cross-functional team or technology group;
15+ years of experience in geologic modeling, reservoir characterization, well-log analysis, reservoir geophysics, seismic interpretation, facies studies, sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, organic geochemistry, seismic volume interpretation, AVO, and attribute interpretation, correlation to petrophysical and geochemical analysis in conventional and fine grained and unconventional plays. Strong experience in exploration geology in a large number of regional geologic settings and plays
Experience in both conventional and un-conventional geologic settings in all phases of E&P; process. (Experience in shale petroleum systems and tight and/o naturally fractured reservoirs is strongly desired)..
Demonstrated experience in assessing and identifying geologic risk and uncertainty in the exploratory and development process, as well as understanding of upstream economics and value of information analysis.
Strong experience working in Business Development roles, Evaluation and /or creation of Data Room packages, and demonstrated experience in play selection, exploratory program definition.
Very strong computational, data management skills, and latest software and technology such as: Microsoft Office, MMRA, Landmark, SMT, Seisworks, GeoProbe, Geolog, Paradigm, Petra, Petrel, Geografix, ArcView, ArcGIS, Paradigm, programming languages a plus
