Marathon Oil, an energy industry leader with a focus on unconventional resource development, is engaged in worldwide hydrocarbon exploration and production.- Marathon is currently seeking an experienced geologist to support the Permian Region-s growth strategy.-This is a high-impact position within a small, highly collaborative team focused on expanding Marathon-s position in the Permian Basin.--
Conduct regional geologic studies to identify and quantify trends in performance.- Create and maintain clear and effective maps to influence exploitation drilling and Business Development acquisition strategy.
Develop/maintain reservoir characterizations based on log and seismic data and geologic risking of reservoirs
Develop bench marking/competitor surveillance leveraging DI Analytics and DI Subsurface
Provide support to teams conducting various studies (completions studies, spacing studies, etc.)
Provide technical information for partner presentations
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and plays
Recommend and evaluate data acquisition programs
Degree: Bachelors required, Masters preferred
Major Discipline: Geology
Years of Experience Required: Minimum 8 years of industry experience; unconventional experience is preferred
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve project related goals.

High attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure
Software Proficiency: OpenWorks, ArcGIS, GeoGraphix, IHS/DrillingInfo, Spotfire, Petrel
