Job Summary

The Geologist position is located in Denver, CO as a member of the DJ Basin Execution Team. Anadarko is seeking a Geologist with a strong background in operations and development who will be responsible for directing technical geologic operations for a multi-rig horizontal development program. Primary responsibilities include interpreting 3D seismic, mapping, structural interpretation, constructing and refining models that influence well planning and execution phases, as well as 24/7 geosteering duties. The successful applicant will be expected to help mentor and train less experienced staff as well as maintain high standards of internal and industry best practices within the team. This position requires a strong desire to work as part of a fast paced team, and strong technical leadership skills.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

    • Eight (8) + years of experience in oil and gas required; experience with an operator preferred.

 

    • A strong background in geologic operations and development, and experience geosteering horizontal wells.

 

    • A solid understanding of structural geology and mapping complex structure.

 

    • Ability to work flexible hours and cover 24/7 - 365 horizontal geo-steering operations, including holidays if needed.

 

    • Proficiency in geologic software and geo-steering applications (ideally Decision Space and SES), as well as the core functions of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)

 

    • The ability to review and quickly assimilate details of various pieces of data to understand a big picture and act decisively.

 

    • A high level of dependability, dedication, initiative, energy, creativity, interpersonal skills, adaptability, and an ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team.

 

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

    • Prior experience with geologic/geophysical mapping and interpretation strongly preferred.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

    • Interpret 3D seismic and incorporate findings with other reservoir drivers and requirements from development, exploration and drilling teams to ensure successful execution of horizontal wells across several basins.

 

    • Geo-steer horizontal wells in a 24/7 operation with possibility of multiple active drilling rigs

 

    • Provide geophysical interpretations to development geologists for more efficient and effective well planning

 

    • Develop and improve geoscience workflows for better technical results and efficient data transfer between teams and disciplines

 

    • Assist in development and enforcement of relevant data quality standards

 

    • QC and interpret mudlog, LWD, and directional survey data from the field

 

    • Assist in the standardization and oversight of geosteering operations, mudlogging, wireline logging, and general wellsite geology.

 

    • Mentorship and training with team technical staff and interface with other groups needed subsurface support to deliver projects.

 

    • Effectively communicate and build strong working relationships with geologists/geophysicists in asset team, drilling personnel, MWD and directional crews, land teams, etc.

 

    • Collaborate with other assets to share knowledge and provide horizontal operations support

 

    • Periodic travel to field sites. Must comply with company vehicle policy.

 

 

 

Education

B.S., M.S. or PhD Degree in Geology or Geophysics.

The percentage of travel required for this position is 0-20%.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Work Schedule
This position is eligible for the 5/40 or 9/80 work schedule.
