Job Summary

This position is a member of the Project Advancement Team located in The Woodlands, TX. The PA Team’s mission is to ensure quality and consistency of asset team technical and commercial evaluations in order to improve business decisions across various business units. The PA Team is comprised of highly experienced individuals with a range of skill sets who work collaboratively and draw on engineers (drilling, completions and production), geologists, geophysicists, EH&S;, Land, Midstream, Regulatory and Supply Chain support groups. The engineer’s focus will be to review the reservoir engineering and commercial aspects of project evaluations. The engineer will then contribute to independent risk assurance opinions provided to management.


The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications:

12 + years relevant engineering experience required, with commercial experience strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of reservoir engineering fundamentals. Must also have the ability to perform statistical studies and analyze analog data to support assurance evaluations.
Experience in at least two areas: GOM development, GOM exploration, international exploration, and unconventional plays with an oil and gas production company.
Working knowledge of Rose or similar subsurface statistical risking methods.
Understanding of economic analysis
Candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with asset teams, technical peers and management.


Review the technical and commercial aspects of asset team recommendations.
Ensure that tools are being used appropriately and consistently.
Identify key project risks and suggest mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with PA Team to prepare independent risk assurance assessment.


Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required, with Petroleum Engineering being preferred.

Business degree also advantageous.


The following is required for this position:

Valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle.


This position may be eligible for relocation

Travel Requirements

The percentage of travel required for this position is 0-10%.

Work Schedule

This position may be eligible for the 9/80 work schedule.
