LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta (CA-AB) JOB NUMBER: 22405   Job Overview Reporting to the director, emerging projects, in situ resources, you will be responsible for leading subsurface technical evaluations and studies to progress green field SAGD developments from resource delineation to first oil. Key Accountabilities Ensure technical quality of SAGD green field depletion plans including optimized well planning and production forecasting using multiple methods Strengthen technical materials for project approvals (i.e. peer and gate reviews) Act as subsurface technical lead for winter programs, subsurface technical plans, including design and evaluation of reservoir testing programs Lead various technical studies such as lean zone mitigation plans Support the development and implementation of proven, continuous improvement technologies such as NCG co-injection, FCD and ES-SAGD Enhance economic outcomes of Suncor growth projects through optimization and creative thinking and planning. Drive focus on cost reduction plans for all sub surface activities Participate and provide guidance for evaluation of commercial opportunities (resource assessment) Stewardship of reserves evaluations and working with Suncor reserve committee Support business plan development, major property reviews and regulatory applications Lead development of various technical best practices documents and standards Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers Required Qualifications Experience and Education Minimum 15 years of reservoir engineering experience within oil and gas Five or more years of thermal recovery experience Experience with cap rock integrity evaluation (mini frac and geo-mechanics) Green field SAGD experience Bachelors degree in engineering and registered as a professional engineer through APEGA Skills and Knowledge Proficiency in thermal production forecasting and recovery evaluation through analog, analytical, empirical and simulation approaches Deep understanding of field operations from optimum level of delineation drilling through to horizontal producer/injector wells and completions including flow/buildups/falloff and interference test design and analysis Capability and understanding of industry economic methods and decision processes The ability to lead projects and collaborate with others in order to achieve results and deliver value in a well-integrated multi-functional team environment Effective communication skills and experience in stakeholders relationship management Working Conditions This position will be based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre On-call duties will be required during the winter program Why Suncor Go ahead.
