LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta (CA-AB) JOB NUMBER: 22284   Job Overview Reporting to the manager, reservoir engineering and in close collaboration with E&P; reservoir engineers and geoscientists, your work will involve peer reviews, peer assists and reservoir engineering support of regional development, exploration, business development and new venture projects. Key Accountabilities Participate/lead functional peer reviews and/or peer assists of reservoir engineering work by the regional teams. Assess the reservoir engineering input parameters, appropriateness of the database, reservoir engineering tools utilized, depletion plan, resource assessment, life of field production profiles and overall quality of the technical evaluation Participate/lead subsurface peer reviews and/or peer assists of regional projects with other subsurface disciplines (geology, geophysics, production engineering).  Assess the reasonableness of resource distribution, depletion plan and development assumptions. Identify any subsurface and reservoir engineering risks associated with the project and provide recommendations for further work May act as the subsurface representative in integrated peer reviews and present the risks identified in the subsurface reviews. Ensure the level of work is in line with Suncors subsurface requirements relative to the project stage Provide reservoir engineering expertise to the regional asset teams Provide support for evaluation requests from other business units/teams, including exploration, new ventures and commercial Provide informal mentoring to junior engineers Lead or assist in development of best practices and guidelines Required Qualifications Experience and Education Minimum 12 years of related reservoir engineering experience with a deep understanding of fundamental reservoir engineering principles Competency in reservoir simulations with Petrel/Eclipse is an asset Familiarity with gated process for project governance is an asset International experience is an asset Bachelors degree in engineering, eligible for APEGA membership immediately Skills and Knowledge You collaborate effectively with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value You effectively probe for both upside and downside when evaluating a project You constantly ask what could go wrong, check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and anticipate potential problems You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same You are a self-starter with high work ethic Working Conditions This position will be based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre Occasional travel may be required Why Suncor Go ahead.
