Rock Physics Technology (RPT) is an up-and-coming Norwegian company providing geophysical software and services for the global oil and gas industry. We have high activity and ambitious growth plans, and are now looking for skilled people to join us in our Bergen office.

We are a small, dedicated team of 3 people holding a combination of internationally acclaimed rock physics competence and backgrounds in software sales and business development. Our ambitions are backed by a Norwegian Venture Capital-fund, and together we are working to establish RPT to become a new global geophysical software and service provider.

To achieve or goals, we need new enthusiastic people to join our staff. We are looking for one software developer and one senior geophysicist /geologist to complement our team and join us in providing world class software and services for our customers.

Our software ENTER, incorporates rock physics into innovative workflows for quantitative seismic interpretation; connecting theoretical and empirical models to geological interpretations.

The software developer will, together with our Chief Technology Officer, be in charge of developing our software solutions.

The senior geophysicist/geologist will use ENTER to deliver first-class services to our customers, and be an ambassador for our software portfolio though customer meetings and client relations. Both roles will offer challenging tasks, and large room for personal development and creative freedom for the right candidate.

Software developer: Main tasks

Continue development of the ENTER software portfolio with focus on the frontend and intermediate layer

Software support; response, debugging and reporting

Possibility of backend development

Extend the software functionality with e.g. new and innovative technologies

Other IT-related tasks, such as managing version handling, software distribution, follow-up on web pages and infrastructure

Software developer: Skills and qualifications

M.Sc or PhD in computer science, software development or similar

Good experience with methods/technologies such as system design, object-oriented programming, UI/UX, web application design, databases and cloud solutions is important

Focused technologies are Java/NetBeans, JavaScript, MySQL. Other technologies of interest include Angular5, CSS/SASS, XML, PHP, GIT, MATLAB, Docker, Tomcat, JavaEE, nginx, Flex LM, Linux systems (bash scripts, services, etc).

Knowledge about geoscience, physics, mathematics and working with large and/or multi-attribute datasets is advantageous, but not a requirement
Other skills of interest are machine learning, graphical design and smartphone/tablet application design

Proficiency in oral and written English is a requirement, and Norwegian language skills is advantageous.

Sr. Geophysicist/Geologist: Main tasks

Use our software and technology to solve client problems

Apply best-practices from the industry to lead, document and present service projects to customers

Create and perform technical sales presentations for customers

Be an inhouse resource on E&P; company workflows, challenges in prospect evaluation and industry software use

Sr. Geophysicist/Geologist: Skills and qualifications

M.Sc or PhD in geology, geophysics, physics or similar

Minimum 5 years of experience from an E&P; company, with a proven track record of technical excellence and achievements in prospect identification and evaluation on the NCS

Significant experience with interpretation software such as Petrel, and QI-software such as RokDoc and/or HampsonRussel. Knowledge of other tools such as RMS, Paradigm, GeoTeric, OpendTect is an advantage.

Experience with, and/or interest in, quantitative interpretation techniques such as AVO and inversion is an advantage.
Proficiency in oral and written English is a requirement, and Norwegian language skills is advantageous.
