Generates and evaluates exploration and development opportunities in the shelf and deepwater areas of the Gulf of Mexico that provide growth to the company.
Creates subsurface geophysical structure, amplitude and isopach maps using 2D and 3D seismic data, subsurface well control and engineering data.
Interprets 3D seismic data including complex structure, sequence stratigraphy, seismic amplitude analysis and basic understanding of Amplitude Versus Offset (AVO).
Generates and describes prospects, quantifies risk and assists in the determination of volumetric resource estimates.
Works with multi-disciplinary teams responsible for planning and executing drilling programs on operated and non-operated properties.
Performs detailed field studies to assess remaining exploration, development and workover potential in existing fields.
Screens outside generated opportunities and assesses their economic viability rapidly.
Works closely with Acquisitions and Divestitures teams to support acquisition evaluations.
Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geosciences or a related discipline is required.
Proven oil and gas finder with 10+ years of experience with recent experience in the Gulf of Mexico required.
Deepwater Gulf of Mexico experience required.
Experience using risking and sizing methods developed by Rose and Associates highly desired.
Experience with well operations required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills a must, with the ability to present complex technical work effectively.
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
Team player with strong interpersonal skills that requires the ability to interact in a positive manner with others.
Understanding of petrophysical interpretation and log analysis.
Must be proficient in mapping applications.
Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
Experience with the following is a plus.
