Based in Adelaide, in this role you will apply and utilise your geophysical skills and experiences to support Beach Energy’s exploration and development activities. Interpret and integrate seismic data with geological data to aid new oil and gas field discoveries and generation of new play concepts and apply quantitative interpretation to projects; to assist in lowering the risks and costs associated with oil & gas exploration and development to the company.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Evaluate New Ventures opportunities in a robust, efficient and effective manner. Review seismic and geological data to assess potential farm-ins, gazettal’s or asset acquisitions within tight timeframes:
Undertake analysis and interpretation of 2D & 3D seismic data to locate and evaluate the prospectivity of potential oil and gas targets. This will include incorporation of geophysical and geological data, structural mapping, depth conversion, reservoir/seismic attribute evaluation and migration pathway analysis using appropriate geophysical software.
Delineation of new 2D and 3D seismic surveys and processing projects to generate prospects and leads and for reservoir characterisation.
Conduct risk analysis of prospects and leads, create seriatims of prospects and leads to assess the potential of acreage or to prioritise drilling portfolio candidates.
Recommend appropriate work programs, including drilling, seismic and geophysical studies to senior management and Joint Venture partners.
Develop scope of projects and undertake reservoir characterisation studies internally and liaise with service providers.
Act as a subject matter expert to influence processes and decisions outside of immediate area of responsibility.
Develop, document and implement technical workflows in functional domains.
Contribute to building of framework for static modelling.
Investigate advances in geophysical technologies and ascertain their applicability for use within Beach Energy’s exploration and development activities.
Develop and deliver presentations to peer-review groups and joint venture parties, as required, to assess potential of acreage, plan exploration programs and review drilling results.
Ensure final seismic interpretation reports to Joint Venture parties and government petroleum regulators are submitted as required by the timeframes associated with specific projects and different government jurisdictions.
Provide informal mentoring to geoscientists to assist the development of their knowledge and skills and aid their capacity for contribution to the company. Facilitate technical knowledge sharing and ensure appropriate geophysical training is implemented to progress professional development of geotechnical staff.
Proactively contribute to the continuous capture and management of all subsurface and associated data, including historical data, to maximise availability & value for analysis.
We are looking for technically proficient individuals with considerable experience in hydrocarbon geophysics. Having attained tertiary qualifications as a minimum, you will be delivery focused - with the ability to build fruitful and value-adding relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Exposure to a variety of different geological styles and basins (both in Australia and overseas), along with extensive knowledge of quantitative seismic analysis techniques and static model building and reservoir characterisation essential. Software understanding across Petrel, Kingdom/SMT, Petrosys, ARCGIS, or similar desirable.
