This position is part of a multi-disciplinary Asset team that supports an active horizontal drilling program. The role will identify how to continuously improve the performance of proven zones as well as to less proven zones in the Midland Basin. The successful candidate will be able to integrate multiple subsurface datasets, including geology, petrophysics, geochemistry, and petroleum system analysis for management recommendations and to mentor staff.
Integrate basin history, petroleum systems, sequence stratigraphic, seismic, petrophysical and unconventional reservoir concepts and work flows
Make recommendations based on integrated maps, cross sections, and other geological displays
Present and recommend to management regarding data collection and multi-well horizontal pad development
Rapidly integrate results from previous (operated and competitor) drilling
Work with a team of Geologists, Reservoir and Production Engineers and Geoscience Specialists to integrate data sets including reservoir behavior and well performance
Meet all project schedules, deliverables and milestones as outlined in work plans
Assist in mentoring and on-the-job training of less experienced team members
Actively participate and manage data acquisition, interpretation and application
Master’s Degree in Geology required
Minimum ten (10) years’ oil and gas Geologist experience required
Strong skills in Petra (or similar integrated geoscience platform) required
Familiarity of the Permian Basin preferred
Capability to work effectively with cross-discipline professionals and all levels of the team
Documented ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information.
