Golder has a new opportunity for an experienced Senior Resource Geologist to join our Mining team, based in London.

As a Senior Resource Geologist, you will be involved in providing technical support to deliver services such as drilling and sampling reviews, QAQC analysis, geological modelling and resource estimates, due diligence reviews, preliminary assessments, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

You will be responsible for providing technical support to the development and completion of a wide range of projects within the Ore Evaluation Services group, including:

Conducting site based geological fieldwork in the UK and overseas to deliver projects to our Clients, promoting and presenting Golder in a professional manner at all times in line with our code of conduct and professional expectations associated with your role
Auditing, technical reviews and due diligence of natural resources in an auditable and justifiable manner, applying appropriate care and diligence in line with recognised best practice
Preparation and assessment of geological models using software such as Vulcan Datamine and/or Isatis
Preparation of technical reports in line with Golder’s internal and recognised industry standards and format (e.g. CPR, NI 43-101)
Lead and support in the management and coordination of Ore Resource:
Delivering sustainable benchmark performance:
Track and monitor budget and chargeable hours against your projects and provide an explanation of variance on a monthly basis.
Monitor and maintain profitable projects and budgetary expectations to yield project multipliers >3.3.
Issue all project invoices on a monthly basis and maintain all project DSOs below 90 days.
Managing net revenues
Managing the multiplier of Ore Evaluation Services projects to determine what work is profitable and where work is less profitable
Returning green files to the Accounts department within the required timescale on a monthly basis to ensure the Company can invoice clients
Returning draft invoice authorisation forms to the Accounts department in a timely manner, to ensure that the Company can track project progress and capture variations to scope, budget and project duration
Submit project profitability calculator declarations (a mechanism of formally informing the Company of the project multiplier)
Submission of timesheets on a weekly basis including outline comments relating to chargeable and nonchargeable project inputs
Liaising with the global Ore Evaluations Service networks, which includes specialists within Golder both nationally and internationally. You will be expected to join global Ore Evaluation Services team meetings and calls as and when required
Ensuring the maintenance of a safe working environment by correct application of technical knowledge and by diligent and effective use of HASEP policy and procedure
Understanding and adhering to Golder Health and Safety, Code of Conduct and other policies relevant to the employee’s actions and role
Achieving and maintaining a chargeability of 75%
UK and international travel. Travel outside of the UK will require overnight stays, likely duration of between 1 and 4 weeks, up to 25% of your working time; however, depending on the nature of the project/client needs this will vary to meet Client and Company expectations
Business development including attending networking events, conferences and seminars. You will be encouraged to prepare at least one technical paper or presentation each year promoting innovation, capabilities and core skills of the Ore Evaluation Team at an external industry conference or seminar
Actively participate within Golder’s Young Professionals Group, taking the opportunity to share and communicate your skills and experiences

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

Essential

Degree qualified within geology
Mining, resource and consultancy experience
Demonstrable experience to sign-off on JORC resources/reserves
Experience in technical reviews and due diligence studies either as independent reports or within a multidisciplinary team working on feasibility studies, expansion studies, optimization or operations support
Thorough knowledge and understanding of ore evaluation
High level of competency with 3D geological modelling and mining software, such as Vulcan, Datamine and/or Isatis
Excellent communication and networking skills
Project management, budgeting and quality control experience for consulting assignments
A dynamic and enthusiastic approach to geology and mining
Ability to identify new business opportunities in the mining industry
