ConocoPhillips is recruiting a Senior Reservoir Simulation Engineer to support Surmont asset development and optimization. Reporting to the Supervisor, Reservoir Performance, this role is responsible for building and running thermal dynamic simulation models. This role will require the ability to deliver fit-for-purpose reservoir models that meet established deadlines, provides interpretations and insights, and shares learnings from the model with peers and leaders. The role provides the opportunity to coach junior simulation engineers on thermal simulations.
Build fit-for-purpose reservoir simulation models to characterize bitumen reservoirs within Surmont, history match these models to available field data, and forecast future performance of the DAs
Work with the Geosciences team to ensure good consistency between the static and dynamic reservoir models
Utilize CMG STARS and/or Schlumberger Intersect to perform thermal simulations
Work with Surmont Development team to use reservoir simulation models to assist or optimize:
field development plans,
reservoir performance forecasting,
monitoring and evaluation of various subsurface technologies
Prepare documentation on models including presentations for the relevant project reviews and milestones
Coach junior simulation engineers
Explore and capture new technologies and workflows that help deliver fast and high-quality simulation models
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
10+ years of experience on thermal reservoir simulation
Experience in history matching SAGD reservoir models to field actual data
Proficient in using commercial reservoir simulators such as CMG STARS
Excellent understanding of thermal recovery methods
Legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions
Experience with Schlumberger Intersect and Petrel will be considered an asset
Strong communication skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to details
