SUMMARY

The Senior Appraisal Reservoir Engineer will be able to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team performing reservoir simulation to guide the estimating of reserves, optimal field development and predicting future field performance to ensure maximum recovery. Position will be based in Houston or Dallas, Texas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Expertise in conducting state-of-the-art black-oil and compositional reservoir simulation studies using ECLIPSE or equivalent simulator.

Expertise in working with subsurface teams charged with the responsibility for developing dynamic and static reservoir models by integrating data from various technical disciplines (G&G, production, reservoir, facilities, and related technical disciplines).

Build, run and calibrate simulation models to determine probabilistic assessment of recovery of deep-water reservoirs in Gulf of Mexico.

Develop reservoir simulation models that accurately reflect all the available geological and reservoir engineering data and provide a production forecasting plan for the asset.

Use probabilistic techniques, such as experimental designs, to generate production profiles and recovery factors.

Develop strong working relationships with multi-disciplinary project teams.

Assess various development strategies jointly with project teams to formulate recommendations to management, in order to optimize the value of the assets.

Project management skills to meet the project deadlines and deliver quality presentations and reports in a timely manner.

Present to project team members and management proposed depletion plan based on reservoir simulation studies.

The ability to work with diverse functional groups, along with the ability to build team consensus and ownership in interpretations.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Petroleum Engineering, is required with at least 8 to 10 years of directly related experience using ECLIPSE, VIP or CMG. Having a diverse petroleum engineering background, along with reservoir simulation experience, including experimental design probabilistic forecasting techniques essential. Solid understanding of project management concepts including developing objectives and work plans for a team. Prior deepwater experience is a plus.

Experience in evaluation and development of deepwater reservoirs is preferred, with strong preference for Gulf of Mexico expertise. Similar deepwater experience in other Frontier Basins would be considered.

Demonstrated proficiency in technical software packages such as economic modeling and decision tree, reserves management and pressure transient analysis.

Must have strong technical background in reservoir engineering including decline curve analysis, material balance, volumetrics, waterflood studies, pressure transient analysis, nodal analysis, etc. and a good understanding of geology. Petrophysical knowledge and MDT analysis skills helpful.

Fluency in integrated production modeling tools (Gap, Prosper, MBal, etc) is desired.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.

Must be able to work in highly charged, fast-paced work environment and be able to simultaneously handle multiple projects.
