BASIC PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
  • To support the development of the company's operated asset in the Middle East through the application of reservoir modelling techniques integrated with other subsurface disciplines.
  • Interfaces with other reservoir modellers and reservoir engineers in the Abu Dhabi office and internationally to ensure best practices are defined, shared and put into place.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides a full range of reservoir modelling support and analysis to the team including (but not limited to):
  • In conjunction with the Senior Modelling Geologist, shares primary responsibility for the development and optimisation of all static and dynamic reservoir models
  • Running and analysing simulations to determine optimal development strategies
  • Input to and support of the Field Development Plan, including periodic updates to the document as knowledge of the field evolves
  • Provides reservoir modelling support for the annual reserve assessment submissions and the development of production forecasts for budgeting and corporate planning requirements
  • Input to reservoir management and surveillance programs consistent with the long term depletion strategy and operation optimisation initiatives
  • Conceptual design support for well planning activity including drilling, completion and production testing
  • Provides general support to the Senior Reservoir Engineer including support for well test design and analysis as well as fluid sampling and analysis programs
  • Collaborates with other subsurface staff in designing petrophysical acquisition and analysis programs
  • Provides reservoir modelling support to Business Development objectives as required
  • Promotes an integrated approach by working within a multi-disciplinary team to incorporate geological, geophysical, petrophysical and reservoir engineering information into reservoir models evaluating the company's interests
  • Shares knowledge and learnings with other modelling professionals both in Abu Dhabi as well as internationally
  • Coaches, mentors and supports the development of less-experienced staff within the company

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING REQUIRED

  • B.Sc. in Engineering with P. Eng. or equivalent professional designation

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Experience working with the development and optimization of static and dynamic reservoir models
  • Reservoir simulation experience in fractured reservoirs
  • Excellent communication, project management and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and succeed in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Proven track record of adding value through the effective application of reservoir modelling concepts to projects
  • Working knowledge of geology, geophysics, and petrophysics to support integration efforts
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in the use of Eclipse simulation and Petrel RE reservoir modelling software packages
  • International experience, particularly in the MENA region
