We are currently looking for experienced, motivated, creative and entrepreneurial individuals to fill a Senior Reservoir Engineering Advisor position on our Analysis and Interpretation team. This position will report to the Performance Analysis & Interpretation Manager and will be located in Houston.
The primary responsibilities of the Senior Reservoir Engineering Advisor, Analysis and Interpretation Team, are to:
Materially advance Occidental’s reservoir engineering technologies, methods, and workflows for Permian unconventional resourcesProvide technical assurance for various unconventional reservoir engineering analyses being performed within the companyWithin areas of responsibility, develop technical Type Curves aligned with the broader Occidental subsurface workflowsSupport, and serve as management advisor on, critical business decisionsProvide guidance, mentoring, and training to less experienced personnel
Has a theoretical and practical knowledge of (1) the integrated subsurface characterization and engineering workflows required to accurately access and predict the performance of horizontal wells in unconventional reservoirs, (2) reservoir surveillance processes, (3) technology evaluation and assessmentDrives for results that significantly impact company performance with a sense of urgency. Drives multi-disciplinary integration. Challenges the status quo. Pushes self and colleagues to identify ways to improve and achieve results. Displays energy and dedicationEffectively communicates with management, colleagues, various internal work groups, and other stake holdersAppropriately adjusts focus and level of detail to deliver results within deadlinesSuccessfully prioritizes and integrates multiple goals, manages projectsDeals with ambiguity effectively. BS or higher degree in Petroleum Engineering or closely-related discipline15+ year’s experience in the oil & gas industry. 10+ year’s experience with unconventional reservoirs. Multi-functional experience a plusExperience working with IHS HarmonyProficient in RTADeep understanding of rock and fluid properties in unconventional reservoirsExperience driving multidisciplinary integrationRecognized accomplishments in the characterization, assessment, development planning, and/or surveillance of horizontal well developments in unconventional resourcesStrong technical and business acumen with understanding of the factors driving performance of wells drilled in unconventional reservoirsStrong technical and business acumen with understanding of the factors driving performance of wells drilled in unconventional reservoirsInterpersonal skills to beneficially influence others, build teamwork, and spur innovative actions that achieve challenging goals
Experience working with 3D numerical simulation (i.e. CMG, Eclipse)Experience with PROSPERA full understanding of hydraulic fracture modeling output and how rock properties affect stimulation designPermian Basin experience (Delaware and Midland Basin)
