THE OPPORTUNITY – Senior Reservoir Engineer
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary asset team, the job holder provides reservoir engineering support to the asset teams. As a senior professional, it is likely that you will be involved in commercially or technically significant projects and/or complex, non-routine assignments which require the application of considerable technical expertise. The job holder is expected to continue to develop and widen their technical and business skills/knowledge by undertaking assignments across the asset management and development spectrum e.g. oil, gas, new developments, projects.
AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…
Provides a wide range of reservoir engineering support and technical advice/guidance to the asset team and, as appropriate, project/operations teams. It is likely that the Senior Reservoir Engineer will take a lead role in many of these activities/projects and/or supervise and co-ordinate the activities of other team members.
Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies and applies leading technologies and technical best practice to maximise production/asset performance.
Supports the development of technical skills and knowledge within the team by openly sharing technical knowledge and expertise with less experienced engineers and through involvement in the technical mentoring process.
Contributes to sub-surface peer reviews, project brainstorming, etc.
Develops highly positive relationships, and inter-faces effectively, with other teams and external parties e.g. well operations, projects, supply chain, JV partner representatives.
Develops a good understanding of financial/commercial aspects of work activities. Ensures expenditures are effectively managed, controlled and monitored. May provide input to budget preparation/business planning process.
Provides technical input and evaluation support relating to the award of contracts and supplier agreements for e.g. technical studies/engineering services. As appropriate, supports the contractor/supplier management process by developing highly positive relationships with contractors and suppliers and ensuring delivery against agreed objectives/KPIs.
May be required to represent the company on industry forums, initiatives, etc.
May be required to make visits offshore for technical meetings and/or to enhance onshore-offshore relationships/communications.
The job holder is expected to take ownership for the continuous development of personal and technical expertise and knowledge.
The job holder is expected to be flexible and undertake additional duties commensurate with the overall responsibilities of the job, and that are within their competence, when required.
Previous experience in a reservoir/petroleum engineering role within a challenging asset management environment
Proven ability to undertake important projects and/or highly complex assignments/tasks requiring the application of highly-developed technical skills and knowledge without supervision
Good commercial awareness/Understands project financing/cost control principles
Good awareness of e.g. legislation, licensing, fiscal issues, relevant to the oil and gas industry
Proven relationship-builder with the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
Experience of supervising/leading technical teams
Highly effective communication/presentation/report-writing skills
A self-starter/Highly motivated/Well organised
Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
