Senior Reservoir Engineer

Houston, Dallas, or Midland, TX

Job Summary
Responsibilities include:
Work as part of the Business Development Technical Team to evaluate acquisition, divestiture, and trade opportunities
Evaluate oil and gas assets with discounted cash flows and identify deal specific value drivers and risks
Produce and present technical presentation materials for management ranging from recent development updates to stand alone valuations
Interpret well results in the context of reservoir fluids, completion design, flowback strategy, and artificial lift installation from a reservoir engineering standpoint
Monitor and analyze competitor data, development strategies & industry trends to help build internal development models to assist with valuing acreage inside and outside of Concho’s operated areas
Work closely with Exploration, BD, or asset team geologists to interpret well results and assign estimated upside value of additional zones inside and outside Concho operated areas
Assist Business Development Technical Team and other departments to form technical views on active areas within the organization’s core areas
Gather information from Land, Marketing, Accounting and various other disciplines to incorporate feedback into acquisition and/or divestiture materials
Serve as Business Development contact with bank personal on various A&D; initiatives
Perform audits, lookbacks, and technical reviews on projects at key milestones
Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering; petroleum engineering preferred
Minimum of 6 years of direct work experience as an engineer with majority of the time spent as a Reservoir Engineer
Strong background in economic evaluations having completed numerous recent acquisitions/divestitures with proven ability to integrate data room / third party materials (LOS, Marketing, Land, etc.)
Proficient in discounted cash flow valuations using both internal and external information
Demonstrated experience and competencies in team work, project management, and skills related to the E&P; lifecycle
Comfortable presenting to senior management
Working knowledge of sub-surface geology, land and well operations
Experience in oil and gas reserve estimations using SEC rules, decline curve analysis, production surveillance, and economic evaluations
Proficiency with economic evaluation software (Aries), Spotfire and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to maintain relationships at all levels of the organization
Self-Starter with strong work ethic and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests
Must be able to work in the United States indefinitely

Education/Experience Preferred
Previous experience in Business Development or Corporate Development position
Proficient in OFM, Arcmap GIS, Drillinginfo and IHS Enerdeq
Understanding of capital markets / finance
Possess a broad understanding of the E&P; business, unconventional reservoirs, recent notable market comps / market trends and work history in the Permian Basin
Field rotation or field experience with well operations a plus
