Reporting to the Manager, Subsurface, Canada Business Unit, this Calgary based position will support the ongoing development of the Greater Edson asset. Working in a multidisciplinary team environment with professional engineers and geoscientists, this position provides the candidate the opportunity to use strong subsurface numerical and analytical skills in combination with overall field development planning.
Integrate geological, geophysical and engineering data to generate expected well forecasts using subsurface analytical & numerical modeling. Incorporate uncertainties and statistical analysis into forecasts.
Integrate subsurface analysis into full field development planning - collaborate with the geoscience team to build portfolio of future wells and create development plans with different risk, production, and capex profiles.
Evaluate different drilling and completion designs by integrating competitor data with Repsol’s well performance data.
Decline analysis, volumetric analysis, analytical/numerical analysis contributing to reserve and resource evaluations and type well generation. Individual will be responsible for the management of the annual reserves reporting process for the asset.
Identify and implement reservoir surveillance plans to optimize field production and increase recoveries (ex: well communication, well productivity, depletion analysis)
Design and oversee sampling for PVT analysis, QA/QC and interpret PVT reports, build an equation of state (EOS) to match lab data, implement the EOS for compositional simulation and understanding fluid behavior in different conditions.
Coordinate and integrate functional groups to prepare field development plans through collaborative planning.
Create and manage execution schedules in collaboration with the entire team.
Support the team in permitting new locations to strategically develop well inventory.
Coordinate with operations and facilities to plan new well tie-ins and infrastructure upgrades or expansions.
Conduct economic evaluations with an emphasis on decision assurance principles.
Prepare budgets and reforecasts, and identify capital and production risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Submit regulatory applications to support field development.
Support JV, Land, and Business Development in evaluating land swaps, farm-ins, acquisitions, etc.
Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
Provide subsurface mentorship to the team as required.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering
P. Eng designation
10 to 15 years’ experience in an upstream Oil and Gas Engineering discipline.
Strong reservoir engineering skills to apply in empirical, analytical & numerical analysis methods.
Extensive knowledge of reservoir engineering concepts including well test analysis (RTA and PTA), core analysis, fluid characterization, flow mechanics etc.
Experience with reservoir modeling, simulation principles, history matching and forecasting.
Experience with statistical analysis, monte carlo simulation, data analytics and machine learning.
Experience with IHS Harmony, Accumap, Value Navigator, WellView, PVR, Petrel, Eclipse, PVT-P, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
Familiarity with discounted cash flow analysis and economic metrics (DPI, NPV, ROR etc.)
Excellent project management skills with commitment to data integrity
Understanding of regulatory requirements, royalties, and reserves reporting requirements in Alberta
Ability to work in a rapidly evolving, dynamic team environment and ability to guide team members towards an overall common goal.
Highly organized, capable of assimilating large volumes of data without losing sight of overall objectives.
Proven ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines.
