Job Title: Senior Reservoir Engineer RQ18-34
TAQA North currently has an opening for the position of Senior Reservoir Engineer reporting to the Asset Manager. The Senior Reservoir Engineer is a key member of the multi-disciplinary asset team, driving value generation through the identification, characterization, planning and execution of appraisal and development projects. The role will require the successful candidate to provide Senior Reservoir Engineering expertise and Exploitation Engineering support as needed to the asset team.
The Senior Reservoir Engineer will conduct fundamental reservoir performance assessments for assigned properties. They will work within a multi-disciplinary team to define key reservoir properties and develop and implement long-term depletion strategies with the goal of maximizing asset value. The successful candidate will work closely with Geologists and Completions experts to help define optimal completion designs in order to maximize productivity and recovery.
In the Exploitation capacity, the successful candidate will prepare project investment justifications, interface with functional teams to drive optimal project execution and provide project status updates. They are accountable for the economic analysis of projects and capital spending alternatives, forecasting production and capital spend, and assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and reserve evaluations.
As a part of this challenging role you will specifically be responsible for:
Reservoir Engineer Accountabilities:
Developing optimal depletion strategies for assigned areas
Together with the team, integrating geological, geophysical, and engineering data across a broad scope of conventional and unconventional reservoirs
Performing type curve and well test analysis on prospective reservoirs
Constructing reservoir models in conjunction with Geoscience staff to quantify resource in place, assess performance, and identify opportunities
Apply reservoir engineering knowledge, including material balance, open hole and production log analysis and interpretation techniques
In conjunction with other disciplines, determining optimal well design and well density
Completing the annual reserve evaluation of existing producing wells/pools
Assessing the potential, make recommendations and execute on EOR projects
Exploitation Engineer Accountabilities:
Leading the execution of development/exploration projects and interface with the asset and functional teams to enhance capital efficiency and project delivery
Performing economic evaluations including capital, base management and operating cost reduction projects
Forecasting production volumes, prepare capital budgets and steward results
Additional Engineering Accountabilities:
Supporting prioritized business development valuations and commercial initiatives
Assisting Joint Venture and Mineral Land staff with the assessment of Non-Operated assets
Providing mentorship to less experienced colleagues within the Development organization
The Successful Candidate is or has:
A Professional Engineer with 12+ years of Oil & Gas experience
An enthusiastic, highly motivated team player with good communication, organizational and technical skills
Strong leadership and project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing and executing multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
Experience working with AccuMap, PEEP, ValNav, and reservoir modeling/simulation software
Creative individual with a desire to continuously learn and develop their own skills, as well as build up the organizational capacity of more junior Engineers.
Experience in generating risked OOIP/OGIP, production profiles, and recoverable volume estimates for both conventional and unconventional Western Canadian Sedimentary plays
Experience with economic evaluations in support of Asset Team activities
