South Valley Operations is currently seeking to fill a Sr. Reservoir Engineer on our subsurface team. This position will be in Bakersfield, California.
Demonstrates results in improving the profitability of a field using reservoir analysis and management techniques
Demonstrates the ability to use petroleum engineering to solve problems and identify enhancement opportunities
Demonstrates the ability to create, design, implement, and post appraise cost effective and economically successful workover and drilling/completion programs
Proficiency in reservoir engineering including, but not limited to, material balance, injection optimization, conformance improvement, flood pattern surveillance, risk evaluation and performance forecasting
Understanding of oil and gas finance in relation to reserves and economics
Experience with horizontal wells (D&C;), conventional sands, turbidites desired
Develop short and long-term reservoir management plan for assigned fields
Identify waterflood optimization opportunities, quantify remaining reserves potential, and evaluate rate, reserves, and economics for drilling and well-work options
Manage field waterfloods to maintain optimal performance
Ability to interact, collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams and working interest partners
A desire to cross-train in engineering disciplines a plus
Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with limited data available
Ability to manage and work with multiple and large datasets
Strong project management skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Strong communication skills with ability to effectively share information to mentor/develop others
Must be able to think strategically and bring creative solutions to the team
Strong presentation and communication skills


Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering or relevant field of study
Minimum 5 years reservoir engineering experience in oil & gas development
Experience with ValNav, Crystal Ball or similar risk analysis suites
Experience in IOR secondary recovery methods
Capable using surveillance applications (e.g., DSS, Spotfire)
Familiar with dynamic numerical simulation (e.g., CMG, Eclipse, or other reservoir simulators)
