POSITION

Staff Reservoir Engineer

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Reservoir Engineer will report to the Subsurface Vice President, and will work in a small, highly focused group of technical professionals with mutual accountability.

SCOPE

The compamy has an excellent position in over 120 blocks in the Gulf of Mexico and its 20,000 BOE of net daily production primarily from both non-operated and operated properties. The position will help ensure long-term success for the Company by providing reservoir engineering support.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Based on economic analyses and studies, will formulate and implement recommendations, plans, and procedures that provide maximum profit and return on invested capital relative to production operations. Ensure that fields are operating at the highest possible production levels while maintaining high performance on maintenance, health, safety, and environmental issues. Work with the asset team in preparing the annual budget. Provide engineering support and data for the annual reserve report. Liaise with Facilities, Drilling, and Operations regarding drilling & completion activities, production and facilities. Analyze performance of producing reservoirs to support further drilling, workover potential, alternate completions, acquisition and divestiture. Make recommendations based on these analyses. Provide reservoir potential and performance evaluations based upon the best geological and engineering data available. When necessary, recommend and acquire new data that will enhance analyses/evaluations. Be responsible for routine reservoir surveillance. Make recommendations related to production issues as the Company’s Leadership Team considers new business and strategic opportunities. Promote an effective system of communication throughout the production organization that maintains an environment fostering collaboration and motivation. Competently, professionally, and influentially represent the Company to partners, vendors, and regulatory bodies as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have earned at least a Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline and will have demonstrated the capability of pragmatic application during assignments of increasing responsibility and scope. The candidate most likely will have begun his/her career with a major oil and gas company and may have assumed a significant role with an independent. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of petroleum engineering experience, with the majority involved in deepwater reservoir engineering. Personally, the ideal candidate will be technically strong and team-oriented. The competencies sought include consultative leadership, superior written and verbal communication skills, innovation, and strategic thought. The individual must be experienced interacting with all levels, both within and outside the organization. The successful candidate will be an organized and disciplined self-starter who is decisive, yet totally comfortable working in a team environment. In short, the top candidate will be technically competent, aggressive, poised, and diplomatic with a focus on meeting commitments and achieving excellence in all aspects of the role.
