Description

The Senior or Principal Reservoir Engineer is expected to be a technical leader within the Group’s Reservoir Engineering job family specifically in analytical RE tasks and dynamic reservoir modelling. This individual will be a fully independent contributor to projects, and have the technical and communication skills ability to interface directly (non-supervised) with internal and external stakeholders on Reservoir Engineering topics. The scope includes all significant touch points for Reservoir Engineering, and, specifically, late appraisal to development reservoir studies and PRMS/SPE reserve estimations. This individual will work together with integrated Subsurface Teams, occasionally perform stand-alone assessments, and with operations staff, external parties, and internal Senior Management on occasion.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for supporting the Subsurface study teams, and for delivering Reservoir Engineering solutions to the Company
  • Assist in leading Reservoir Engineering activities for CEE and International operations and projects
  • Occasional interfacing with Partners at Technical Committee Meetings (TCM) on various CEE and International assets, etc.
  • Provide occasional support for Business Development assessments
  • Support field development studies including pre-simulation studies, dynamic reservoir model builds (both material balance and 3D), concepts (well counts, spacing, etc.), and production forecasting and planning
  • Assist in drafting subsurface sections of Field Development Plans (FDPs)
  • Support Geology Team with static model builds, as necessary
  • Provide occasional well test plans, ops office support, and well test analyses for Exploration & Appraisal wells
  • Assist in leading yearly internal reserve assessments in compliance with SPE guidelines & PRMS including coordination of the process with the CEE and International Business Units
  • Mentor junior staff, and assist in assuring Reservoir Engineering excellence and best practices

 

Desired Skills and Experience

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum) required; Graduate degrees preferred
  • Minimum 15 years relevant experience in Reservoir and/or Petroleum Engineering studies and operations
  • Experience with stage gate processes, development studies, field development plans (FDPs), and reserve management systems
  • Prior experience with mature field redevelopment, as well as, with greenfield development projects
  • Prior experience with numerical modelling using Eclipse (black oil and compositional)
  • Experience in naturally fractured and hydraulically fractured reservoirs
  • Prior experience as full-time staff with a large/recognized IOC
  • Evidence of analytical RE skills
  • Experience with Eclipse, Petrel RE, Kappa suite, Petroleum Experts suite, as well as, MS Office suite
