Do you have exceptional communications skills with demonstrated expertise in the land management?
Coliban Region Water Corporation is based in Bendigo and is one of the largest Victorian regional urban water corporations. Our service area covers 16,550 square kilometres including 49 towns. We manage, maintain and operate 34 reservoirs and water storage basins and provide water and waste water services to both urban and rural customers.
We are committed to employment equality and diversity, and value the benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce. In line with this, we encourage applications from suitably-qualified candidates from all backgrounds. We are also able to offer a range of flexible working arrangements.
About the role
As part of the team that operates and maintains the reservoirs and surrounding recreation areas, this role has a focus on the management and protection of assets including the land, catchment, cultural heritage and water storage structures that surround the reservoirs.
This work ensures the safety of the assets and is a vital part of enabling the water storages to supply clean and safe drinking water to Coliban Water customers.
The role includes Authorised Water Officer (AWO) duties that involve the monitoring, patrolling and reporting of recreational areas activities to ensure all on-site activities are in accordance with the relevant by-laws and regulations. This requires the AWO to communicate and engage with recreational users and the broader community to build awareness and provide education about how the Coliban Water recreational facilities can be enjoyed whilst maintaining safety and protecting the reservoir assets.
This opportunity is full-time, for a 12 month fixed term period. An ability to work weekends as part of standard working schedule is essential for this role. The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2017. The annualised salary range (inclusive of weekend rates) is $78,423 – $86,918, and a salary will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience.
What you can bring
You will need to have exceptional communication skills with demonstrated expertise in engaging and building rapport with a variety of people. Having a ‘can do' attitude and the ability to work as part of a team to achieve work goals is critical. Supervisory competence, including an ability to manage contractors on work sites, is essential for this role. AWO training will be provided, however, Water Industry certification or relevant experience in land/recreation area management or water storage operations will be highly regarded.
