TGS provides multi-client geoscience data to oil and gas Exploration and Production companies worldwide. In addition to extensive global geophysical and geological data libraries that include multi-client seismic data, magnetic and gravity data, digital well logs, production data and directional surveys, TGS also offers advanced processing and imaging services, interpretation products, permanent reservoir monitoring and data integration solutions.
The research geophysicist will be responsible for developing new geophysical data processing technologies and applications under supervision. As such, you will interact with the research and programming team, as well as the production processing groups when required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops new innovative technologies and provides technical support to seismic processing personnel and clients as required .
Responsible for mentoring less experienced research geophysicists.
Responsible for and able to deliver R&D tasks on time
Internally recognized expert in at least one research area in depth or time processing
Follow/forecast industry trends, and propose new projects
Make sure that any technology you develop is production ready, complete with full user documentation
Prepare presentations and provide training on the use of the developed technologies to the processing teams
Demonstrate personal commitment to living the TGS values
Take responsibility for your own safety, and comply with all instructions given regarding health, safety and the protection of the environment.
Ensure the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment as required and report any hazards, accidents or injuries to your immediate supervisor.
Job Requirements (Education and Experience):
Master degree in Geophysics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math or related field or PhD in lieu of some work experience
Minimum of 5 to 9 years of experience
Strong programming skills (C/C++) Required
Extensive experience with finite-difference wave equation imaging or full waveform inversion
Strong coding and parallelization skills for seismic processing programs
Production processing support experience
Proven track record of delivering quality software product

Self-motivated and able to work well in team and independently
Good leadership skill, able to lead/mentor junior research geophysicists, help junior research geophysicists finish their projects on time
Proven track record of delivering technologies to production on time
Good presentation skills, able to present technical papers internally as well as externally
Effective communication skills, able to effectively interact with production and other teams
Good problem-solving skills, able to promptly resolve production issues
GPU programming skills
Good written and presentation skills, willing to collaborate in the preparation of technical abstracts/papers and publish results in journals/present results at technical conferences
