Are you passionate about production optimization and engaging in off-shore development? In this dynamic role reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, you will support our Terra Nova offshore oil field located approximately 350 kilometers southeast of St. John’s. Terra Nova is one of the largest FPSO vessels every built and from keel to helideck, it stands more than 18 stories high and is a mature field with both late life asset challenges and significant remaining development upside that will require creative thinking and application of emerging technologies to advance new projects.
In this role, you will be part of the larger Terra Nova Reservoir Management Team (RMT), made up of production engineering, reservoir engineering, and geoscientists. The production engineering team is responsible for optimization, well integrity, operations support, conceptual well design (completions), and providing support to drilling operations.
You will use your expertise to:
Mentor junior staff within production engineering and other operationally-related groups
Review new development opportunities, including completion of new wells, interventions on existing wells, in addition to future field developments such as Water Alternating Gas and near field tie-backs
Evaluate opportunities to optimize existing well, gathering system and topside performance
Provide technical support to operations, including production of sour fluids
Support proper well metering and allocations
Troubleshoot and solve well problems including well integrity issues for production, water injection and gas injection wells, as well as flow assurance issues
Continuously update the Terra Nova intervention strategy, taking into account technological advancements

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
12 years of oil and gas experience with an emphasis on oil field production engineering
Experience including nodal analysis, as well as development and planning in waterflooded and/or gas lifted fields is highly attractive
A Bachelor’s of Engineering in a related discipline
Registration as a professional engineer or eligible to become a professional engineer through PEGNL
A deep understanding of production engineering principles, including nodal analysis

Preference for:
Offshore experience with gas lifted subsea wells
Sour oilfield experience
Demonstrated strong communication skills, and experience mentoring employees
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary integrated team environment
Well-developed critical and strategic thinking skills, ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions, draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations
A continuous improvement mindset, able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of systems, process and hazards in the workplace
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:
You will work out of our St. John’s office, located at 130 Kelsey Drive
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs, which may include work off shore
Travel to the Terra Nova FPSO and/or MODU is by helicopter or supply vessel SAP:ENG
You will receive training required to work offshore
Qualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position
