Job Title: Senior Production Engineer RQ #17-80

TAQA North currently has an opportunity for a Senior Production Engineer reporting to the Asset Manager South. The Senior Production Engineer is assigned technical responsibility for oil and gas properties within a geographic area. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of professionals and will provide technical support to the Asset Team and field operating staff on the design, implementation and operation of wells, gathering systems and production facilities. As a member of the team, the Senior Production Engineer will initiate action, conduct field operations and monitor performance to ensure that budgeted cash flow is maintained and net present value is maximized.

As part of this challenging role you will specifically be responsible for:

Working within a Team of Engineers/Technologists (Production, Reservoir, Exploitation) and Geoscientists (Geology, Geophysics).
Working closely with the area Field Operations and Tech staff to maximize production and minimize costs.
Working with Production Accountants to ensure proper production measurement and allocation.
Working with a Property Analyst to monitor costs, enhance fees and improve area profitability.
Obtaining advice and input as required from other departments (Marketing, JV, Land, etc.).
Working closely with the Field Operations and tech staff to proactively optimize wells, gathering systems and facilities. Developing and maintaining good working relationship with field staff; visits the field regularly.
Initiating activities to reduce operating costs and improve efficiencies.
Initiating workovers and facility modifications to optimize production.
Tracking results of workovers and well optimization projects including dollars spent and production impact.
Conceiving, implementing and actively managing capital projects which add value to the property.
Ensuring projects are safely completed on time and within budget.
Developing production forecast and operating budgets for the property consistent with the reservoir depletion plan and the capital budget.
Mentoring Engineers and Technologists within Asset Team.
Coordinating property reviews to identify optimization projects.
Assisting in the review of reserves assigned to the property to ensure proper recognition and valuation.
When required assisting in the evaluation of potential acquisitions/divestitures by identifying upside
Qualification Requirements:

Professional Engineer with direct field operations exposure.
10-20 years’ experience in oil and gas engineering in Western Canada.
Experience working in both sweet and critical sour oil and gas production environments.
Excellent knowledge of gathering systems and gas compression facilities.
Experienced in downhole work with a good knowledge of artificial lift systems.
Ideal suite of computer skills: Excel, Accumap, WellView, Avocet, Peep, ValNav, Visage
Well organized, self-motivated, good effective time manager.
Ability to work independently, initiate projects and set priorities.
Proven track record of good communications with field staff and peers.
